Does that make him UFA after this year, or is he still RFA?
Can't say I expected them to get that much for him.
Flames just fleeced the Panthers, IF they can resign Weegar and Hubredeau.

2 rentals in Huberdeau, Weegar, one mediocre prospect and a late 1st. This trade only has value if they can re-sign Huberdeau.
I just love that Florida doesn’t have a 1st round pick until 2026 now.
The first from Florida is also lottery protected.
I love how stacked teams lottery protect their picks like they're gonna go from President's Trophy to Bedard favorite in 1 season
inb4 "Montreal went from Covid Cup Finalists to Zimbabwe mens league team in less time"
This is the rub. But some things to consider, apparently Calgary was on Huberdeau's modified NTC and he waived it to accept the trade, Calgary already has 20/23 roster spots filled (including both goalies and all our D, one of which we could even still move), and still has $9mil in cap space to keep adding
Also add in both Lucic and Monahan coming off the books next season (a combined $11.6mil in cap space), so plenty of cap space to extend both Huberdeau and Weegar. And if they don't want to be extended, we can flip them for assets at the trade deadline if the team sucks, or in the off-season if the team does well.
I'm genuinely shocked we flipped Tkachuk for a 115pt forward, a 44pt defenseman, a prospect and a first round pick. And we could still possibly add a guy like Kadri to the roster.
Also lol at Monahan currently being our highest paid player at $6.375mil. And depending on how beat up and degraded his body is, he could even be on LTIR this season
