I'm just trying to remember the last time two 100+ point players were traded for each other.

It's still gonna be tough for the Flames. Huberdeau had 115pts, but Johnny+Tkachuk had a combined 219pts and were linemates all year. Is there a guy in the UFA market we can pickup who can foreseeable make up that 104pt difference? Do we have a guy on our roster who can? Is there still a viable potential trade to bring someone in?

Our top line right now is Huberdeau-Lindholm-________. Realistically they need to find a 30-40 goal scorer to play on the right side still. The nice thing is we have assets and cap space to potentially find that last piece. It's just a question of will the Flames be able to via trade or signing or etc.

Other then that though, the goaltending is still solidly in place, the defence is nice and stacked (arguably too crowded to the point that they actually kind of have to move someone) and like, the depth forwards are there (Coleman, Toffoli, Backlund, Dube, etc). Just need another really high-end piece

I mean, our last 2 star American players just bailed on us. You really think the franchise will want to bring in another one? Especially a 33 yr old one on an expiring contract who was on a team that ignored the sexual abuse of one of its players and who also beat up a taxi driver and who was also accused of rape?

its definitely a crazy-ass trade. Im very surprised FLA gave up Huberdeau AND Weeger AND more. But yea, Tkachuk is really really good

If the Flames can re-sign Huberdeau or both, thats a massive win for CGY, even though Tkachuk is younger than Huberdeau

Yeah that's kind of my feeling right now too. Extend those guys and it's an absolute fleece of a trade. If they don't and get assets by trading them later, depending on the assets, it's an okay'ish trade

I'm laughing at Ryan Dzingel getting 1 year, 2-way deal with Canes for $750k.
A few years ago the guy was coming off back-to-back 20 goal seasons and was a commodity. That could've looked bad on someone throwing term at that back then.

I mean, dude spent his whole career here and was the captain of the first two cups in team history and is well loved and has done a ton for the community.

Jersey retirement yea sure. A statue I could have seen in like 10 years but I guess it's a "Thanks for the Cups," gesture. His statue reveal will be happening before Lisa Leslie of the LA Sparks which was announced back in 2019. And still no Kobe statue planned yet either.

I also hate calling/typing Crypto.com Arena ugh.
