I'll remain cautiously curious. Obviously the movie was garbage in part because they tried to jam too much into too little a time frame. Otherwise, the DN concept is something I don't think is limited to cultural differences where a lot of adaptations can fuck up. Just hopefully they give it more respect than Cowboy Bebop got. I'd even argue trying to avoid the Light/L dynamic would be for the better. Given the ST ties, I wouldn't be surprised if the shinigami realm plays a bigger role and what happens to DN users gets expanded upon.
