So Basketball-reference.com has an "MVP tracker" where their bot looks at player stats and team record to predict who will win MVP. They have a rule that if a player hasn't played in 70% of the league-wide average of team games they don't qualify.

So yesterday they had Luka with just over a 50% chance to win MVP.

But that's because GIANNIS and the Bucks had only played 3 games due to the weird early schedule, putting him below the 70% threshold. Today he's got 4 games under his belt and qualifies.
