The Twolves are in the same scenario from what I've seen of their games. Their lack of an actual proper ball distributor is a major problem, though fixing that probably still doesn't make the Gobert trade any better.

there's been so much team success without pass-first points re Bron/Dubs/Lakers/Bulls etc that i think it kinda poisoned a lot of team building. unless you have generational passing forwards + advanced coaching systems with players smart enough to execute them not having a distributor at the one leads to endlessly janky offenses

insane thing is that when lue first became HC, he tasked paul george with becoming the ball handler / passer of the two, despite kawhi being leagues smarter in his handles, his passing, and his overall offensive IQ. it would have made all the sense in the world to anyone with a brain that kawhi should be working in that point forward/triangle-y type initiator type role from the mid-post with paul george being the guy to be set up for and given those easy open looks, given he's the better shooter, and a dogshit passer/decision maker.

the result is as you say, endlessly janky offenses.
