The Committee was never intended to continue past this term, that's why they basically wrapped it up. Their final report is due out before the end of this Congress. If Dems were to be able to win the House again they could theoretically start a different Committee to examine aspects of the insurrection but I'm not sure how useful that could be given that it's all up to the DOJ now. Also the DOJ can't wisely proceed until the J6 Committee is done due to not wanting to have testimonies conflicting.

while i'm not in love with DeSantis's strength outside of Florida it was still a very impressive showing there. but more significant is Trump's decline among the party faithful. near the end of his term Republicans polled they supported Trump over the GOP, 51%-38%. since then he was declined consistently and steadily, to a poll run this month showing Republicans supporting the party over Trump 62%-30%.

while it will not move away from many of the principles he popularized, weaponizing claims of illegitimacy, white nationalism, etc, the party has been and continues to move away from him personally. he lost. it is the one thing they cannot abide. and if a majority of Republicans believe he is likely to lose again they will abandon him without delay for the better general election candidate.
