Well all that sounds real bad. Wonder what's going to happen to the loveable scamp?
Mitch McConnell slaps away Rick Scott's challenge as Republican Senate leader by a 37-10 vote this morning.
Lol, Scott is fucking delusional
Got 9 more then I would have expected.
Hopium was good while it lasted
People are fucking stupid.
This is still an incredible outcome that is the best possible losing scenario. Every fascist Secretary of State candidate rejected, Dems held every senate seat and gained one, multiple state legislatures flipped MI, MN, PA house in play. If the Dems in NY, FL, and CA can get their shit together things will improve house-wise. If SCOTUS permits us to keep our voting rights to 2024 the Dem district maps are built to improve as demographic trends change. Going to spend some time calling my senators and telling them to use budget reconciliation to ABOLISH THE STUPID FUCKING DEBT CEILING! So sick of this god damned threat every year and this GOP is insane enough to actually use it to destroy us.
Also this is pretty crazy, the New Hampshire state legislature came down to a tie that may result in a special election.

generally agree, because it easily could have been so much worse. of course there's the flip side that it could have been so much better if dems didn't muck things up over in NY. still i feel a lot more at ease that people smartened up (at least enough to make it matter) and for the most part struck down election deniers while mostly voting on the side of abortion rights.
while i think the qualifier about dems getting their shit together is a big if, as i pretty much expect them to find new ways to lose every election cycle, at least there will be some things going right for them for a bit going forward.
all that said, the next couple years are going to be some kind of wild adventure, for sure.
I doubt they'll have the votes to pull some debt ceiling shenanigans. There's gonna be a lot of New York republicans in a lot of risk come 2024.
Fuck Andrew Cuomo! Fredo ass idiot.
Cuomo nominating conservative judges was incredibly fucking dumb and probably set back a lot of good policy that could have otherwise been passed at the national level.
The saving grace will be watching McCarthy balance the freedom caucus and the very vulnerable blue state republicans that will be up for reelection in a presidential election year.
I suspect we will still see incredibly dumb and wasteful investigations, absurd committee assignments, and progressive policies stonewalled since McCarthy can control those with little risk to his vulnerable seats. I don't think we will get things like pointless impeachments or the debt ceiling getting held hostage. Those are all politically risky. But then again, McCarthy is well known for eating crayons and having a dog brain.
Republican messaging getting stranger

Senate just broke the filibuster on the gay / interracial marriage bill, cleared with a few to spare, 62 total votes with all Dems +12 Repubs on board. the rhinos who aren't total cunts; Romney, Murkowski, Collins, Portman, Tillis, Blunt, Burr, Capito, Lummis, Sullivan, Young, Ernst.
still needs to hit final passage in both chambers during the lame duck session but p clear unlike fertile dames commitment queers are on the fast track to being protected from this terrible rotten no good SCOTUS.
damn that's crazy how a completely different and less popular issue wasn't relevant
you're lucky you're easy on the eyes tyr
I don't know how you look at the states that voted for abortion rights this midterm and think it's not popular. Restricting abortions is very clearly not a winning issue anymore, yet here we are.
strawman coupled with an inability to admit being wrong, classic BG doubleheader
