Oh this is just a tease, I fully expect the 6.45 and 6.55 steps to be brutal. Especially if we are gonna get a long delay to 7.0

I don't expect shit. Endwalker has honestly been very lukewarm with its content. Variant and Criterion dungeons were a nice addition, but they are shit for replayability unless you want to sell some glamour or a mount.

I guess this relic step is part of what Yoshida was hinting at when he said we'd be able to work on multiple relics at once and to ease the grind since there are so many weapons since their data shows players play multiple jobs. We're not shoehorned into a specific type of content to advance like previous relics, but it's still kinda boring.

Uninspired and complete lack of thought went into this, it almost comes off as 'We are tired of making these so fuck you.'

Thinking about it, the fact it uses tomes again does fuck all for being able to do multiple weapons at once. You gotta choose whether to upgrade a weapon's 2nd step or get a weapon in the first step or purchase crafting mats or upgrade crafted gear. I haven't even looked into crafting relics yet and if those need tome mats then fuuuuuuuuccckkkk.

The solo instance battle in the Manderville questline is awesome lol

And you can’t tell me they aren’t testing/teasing Blitzball with these animations anymore, it’s gonna be in 7.X willing to bet one whole dollar

The weapons are a bit stronger than usual for this sort of stage. Honestly very disappointed with the lack of a real relic quest though. Why was this pushed back to 6.35 again?

I'm one of those rare(?) people that didn't mind Bozja that much in the end. Plus the content gave us two raids, though I wasn't a fan of the first one :D but it was also a way to grind tomes at the same time or exp, which was good. Post-expansion EW content has felt kinda lackluster in comparison. Haven't had a chance to try Deep Dungeon yet, but... It's Deep Dungeon, I doubt it will different than the other two in terms how long it remains engaging

At least the raids are cool.

Island Sanctuary, beast tribe quests, new PVP mode, two new ultimates, new leap of faith in gold saucer, treasure dungeons…I mean there has been a lot of good stuff. I think people just lose interest when they are staggered between patches every 3 months. I know it’s not feasible but a lot of people want new content every single month to justify their subscription price but I’d rather wait and unsub if I’m bored instead of making the devs lose their mind coming up with new stuff all the time.

    *laughs in Blue Mage*

But in general, there's always a certain degree of insatiability within the community, and it always sounds loudest when what "they" want isn't being pandered to. I think we all have things we wish XIV would do better or differently, but after this long, they're not really going to change the formula. Pragmatically, I don't think some grasp how unpopular truly grindy things, like weapons, are. Even if we can look at it through XI's lens and laugh at how easy XIV's are in comparison.

I'd probably say there's some valid concern in Yoshida being spread thin with XIV, XVI, and whatever SE is making him do. We also don't know what kind of manpower 7.0 is scarfing up, especially with respect to the graphics overhaul. Covid is still a thing, too, regardless of how much the capitalist machine wants us to forget and move on.

They strongly hinted at Blitzball being added to Golden Saucer for 7.0 in an earlier Endwalker interview. If I recall, they said that it's something they want to add it, they're just not sure exactly how to implement it. Whether it should be single player, 1v1 or a larger PvP mode.

They could probably copy Huttball from SWTOR pretty easily I think. The biggest hinderance is of course the water movement animations and worrying about the Z axis, something they have never done with PVP. If they take it out of the water it’s much easier to do…but then is it really Blitzball at that point? Tough decision.

I played Aion and flight combat was ass. Realistically, there's no mechanical difference in changing water with air when it comes to XYZ stuff.

That said, there's no real reason to get complex about it. A shoot ability, a pass ability, a dodge ability, and maybe a lunge/juke ability is all you'd need for offense. Defense would just be a tackle, steal, and obstruct (block shots/passes). Toss in a meter that makes the ball carrier more likely to drop when tackled or get stolen from the more they carry the ball and I'd say the basics are covered. Are ultimate shots needed? That'd be more of a flourish feature and you'd definitely something more than just everyone doing a Jecht Shot. tbh the biggest technical hurdle is probably just accounting for lalafells being so irksomely short in comparison to the other races that you'd have to fudge animations just so their size isn't a PvP advantage.

Original Blitzball never had to worry about z-axis movement and I doubt SE will want to tackle that nightmare in an online side game.
