Patch 6.3: Gods Revel, Lands Tremble (January 2023)

Finished the new 24 man. Didn’t enjoy it as much as Aglaia to be honest. To be fair that could be because I spent most of the raid dead. Healer would raise me but then wouldn’t top off my HP so I’d just die again, rinse and repeat. Was pretty shitty tbh. Maybe next time I run it I’ll get a better appreciation for it. Didn’t think the final boss theme was anywhere near as good as Nald’thal’s theme either. Meh.

It seems pretty heavily implied that Deryk is Oschon The Wanderer in disguise. I’m guessing when the next raid tier drops that will be the reveal and then we’ll face the final three gods and maybe some super team up or new enemy for the final boss. Probably the opo-opo. Half serious half joking on that part.

Finished MSQ, felt really short compared to 6.1 and 6.2 but I really liked the dungeon boss fights and the new trial. New trial mechanics are gonna take a few attempts I think before I get them down.

So looks like Golbez is living on the 13th’s moon in the place where the 13th’s Zodiark was imprisoned. Which doesn’t make a lot of sense because the flashbacks imply he has been there for a very long time. I’m guessing in 6.4 we finish off Golbez and 6.5 will be a huge tease for whatever 7.0 will be.

I agree this tier isn't as good as Aglaia, but still decent and the amount of dying on first day is hilarious. Even hit enrage on the double fight, which probably won't happen often going forward as the fight is actually really short if you do it properly, but that animation was amazing. Kinda getting used to second tier being my least favourite, so here's hoping the last one is great again.

Oh—I also thought it was pretty neat how you get some unique dialogue in the MSQ if you have Reaper leveled up. I always enjoy the little acknowledgments like that.

How big is this on performance hit?

Wow does it really saturate things heavily with red..

That guy is using more than just RT, it uses image based lighting so it doesn't saturate with anything aside from the natural light and colors already on the screen, and you can adjust the intensity. Works as you'd expect it to for RT. You could also just turn it off entirely and only use it for ambient occlusion which, out of all the AO plugins I've used, this is the best one. As for performance it is pretty big as RT addons tend to be, on my 4090 I go from 175+ down to 90~100.

I feel like PF is making Sophia Unreal extra complicated than when I originally did the Extreme version back in HW. Marker puke everywhere.

Zero will end up eating Golbez, or even Azdaja, to become Zeromus and the major villain headed into the next expansion. I don't think they introduced a character named Zero in an FFIV story just to have her end up on our side.

Also, I'm toying with the idea in my head this this Golbez's identity is Cecil, after the 13th fell into darkness, Golbez is the fiend he became.

Nope. No Zero. There wasn't any real build up to the final boss. Just someone on the moon that wanted to end mankind and was able to manipulate people with hate in their hearts such as Golbez/Kain to do his work.

While we will probably see Zeromus I hope it doesn't involve Zero sacrificing herself. I'm really starting to like her.

I doubt it. It's more likely that Zeromus has been manipulating Golbez (just like in FFXIV) this whole time as it's been implied through the red moon. I find it more likely she'll become a permanent member at the end of 6.5, like G'raha Tia did at the end of 5.5.

Then again, she HAS been stating that she does not liking to absorb Voidsent because it corrupts who she is and makes her lose herself, so she might end up sacrificing herself like you said. They could go either way. But I hope not, I like her, and I feel like her being the last of the Memoriates will play too important a role in 7.0 as it's seemingly the only way to break the cycle of rebirth in the 13th.

Though I suppose they could invent their own strategy by trying to copy the process. Perhaps use the flying pigs to inject Light into their bodies instead to counteract the dark corruption and add some stagnation.

As a side note, did anyone else pick up on the strong hints at Puppetmaster being a possible new job in the latest dungeon?

Any pet job they'll add will most likely be a limited job at best. I think they don't wanna mess with pets considering the headaches they have with SCH and SMN.

Still waiting on Krile to give us BST though, so who knows
