Bubbly Bernie farm alliances about to be in vogue
.
Yeah I wish they would have found a healthier middle ground on time wasting stuff. IMO even just city home point warping would make so much stuff less painful, even if you don't include Selbina/Mhaura/Kazham. Era gamers just love sitting on 15 minute boats and airships for some reason but it is what it is.
I get where you coming from, but how else am I supposed to take a break for food or wc?
Probably an insanely stupid question BUT is it possible to play this on a steam deck? (Never done a private server before lolololol)
Saw this post on their discord - https://github.com/hilts-vaughan/hil...on-xi-linux.md
good luck
Got to 12 so far but starting to need/want to play in groups, has anyone made any progress towards a LS or similar?
is Gil really that much more of a grind then it was in retail? do beastmen not drop gil anymore or something? I remember early on people were farming like crazy off the Quadav in Palburogh Mines for gil, is that not a thing on this private server?
Ay fellas, what'd ya do this weekend?
"we spent all weekend grinding to get to level 10 and got 40 people to pool all our gil together to buy a 10k linkshell."
Y'all wanted that 75 era grind, have fun lmaoooo, cept now you're adults with kids and jobs.
it's tolerable for the moment, but when they drop the spawn rate it's going to be tough
Does the NM claim shield apply per person or per party? I know it says per person but I want to assume it's per party/alliance
Signed my life away again but probably won't be able to touch anything until Tuesday.
Folks wanna do it, and they'll do it for as long as their brains will let em, lol. No one says they have to no-life it tho now compared to back then. There's actually other stuff people can do now that's not just FFXI
Well, it is, but when there's like.. 100+ people in there because there's 3.5k people on the server, you can imagine spawn rates of those in there aren't really the best, lol
The point where I'll probably fall off the train is when people (rightfully, I would have done the same) start questioning why people aren't in full level appropriate gear. When such a thing requires dozens of hours of farming/crafting on the side.
It's hard to really think back to a situation like that in retail for most players. Since they would have likely never been in that position outside of their first few weeks of playing, or never for newer players. Once you start having a sizable sum of gil to fund what you're doing, that kind of stuff sounds completely trivial.
For people who really want to immerse themselves in that era again and put in all the hours and work then I'm sure that sounds like nirvana. But for people who just want to level up and fight mobs up the chain then it becomes a very daunting task.
I will say though that the polish so far in the systems and how it feels is spectacular.
There were people on Discord complaining that they made ore stackable. I'll never understand the fascination with wanting things that suck to stay that way either.
But yeah, I enjoy grinds and am having fun on the server overall, but the limited transportation options and slow as shit run speed just feel terrible. It was bad in retail and it's bad now. I'd wager on the reasons people quit, wanting to do things but it taking too long to even get there to do them would be pretty high up on the list.
