Thats just sad man
Big.
.
I'm on the server! But I gotta go to sleep for work.
18 years ago I could stay up until 9am playing ;__;
In game name: Trollbadguy
See you all on there.
I need to see if I can make a remix (same track but different footage/screenshots) of this LOL, considering how it touches on the last 10 pages so much:
of fucking course they nerf catching high level fish 20+ above you when i was using that to farm for lu shang, was farming cone calamary and bluetail on ferry for skillups and npcing them for 200-360 a piece. Guess they didn't like people getting lu shang so early.
Been playing casually-ish with a crew from era and another server; having a pretty wonderful time. Lv30 WAR and dabbling in fishing, DRK unlock, etc. Still can't believe there are ~4k+ active players; feels like 2005 Sylph right now lol.
I keep doing /sea all and being amazed at the numbers. I hope a lot of it sticks cause I've been having a very good time myself. Also impressed with the Devs and GMs speed at handling issues so far. I have to give serious credit where it's due.
Named myself Sanjojo. Not sure how much of this I'll play outside retail still but we'll see.
So when do we revive the Gimp/Confused/WTF Player thread? lol
From the Discord:
edit: I hope they aren't here because I don't want to attack anyone here but I also think no one here would be naive enough to make such a comment lolOriginally Posted by Valor

That said, the concept of a server like that existing for casual players isn't a bad idea. Stocked AH, cheap vendors, lots of access to gil. WoW servers have done this for decades. I'm not pitching it to this server's devs because I know it doesn't match the philosophy though.
That and the fact that the few odd thousand playing this one are likely a solid 75%+ of people ANYWHERE who would play a XI PS lol
It helps there's been failure after failure for private server ventures. People are wanting something worth a shit. Poor Nasomi players got the shortest end of the stick.
It's the moderators or the admin. Every single time.
Something I learned back in the 90's hosting, working, and playing on various MU*s is that the majority of people who think they can run a server should be nowhere near the process. Favoritism, the inability to say no, temptation to cheat, crumbling under criticism, lacking sense of direction and ambition, easily exploited or poorly structured code, failure to acknowledge issues, and so on all contribute to the end result.
It's easy to say none of that will happen here... until it does. Morale may be high now and vigilance above future average, but two weeks from now? Two months? Pushing aside my own disinterest in 75 cap and stuff like needless RDM nerfs, someone will cause some actual drama eventually. And not in the funny haha HNM kinda way. Fact and fiction won't matter once people have established their social preferences.
It's hard to keep an objective view on a passion project. Especially once you get truly involved with the people around you.
People are emotional.
This right here. They are already showing their hand with poorly thought out rdm nerfs that they can't elaborate on. You ask for one and they link you to their website that also has no explanation of the changes lol. At the end of the day if they're gonna play as developer then they need to do developer things, and how they've handled job changes thus far leaves much to be desired. Another example would be increasing spawn rates in starter zones cause of the influx of players, but then lowering drop rates to near non existent because they didn't want to flood the markets or something? They apparently reverted the drop rates a couple days ago but weird decisions all around.
I don't care enough about FFXI to level a job to 75 CoP style just for a dev with a bad experience two decades ago to nerf it. Best of luck to them, but I'm good. I've seen enough.

1.5hrs killing PH for Jaggedy-Eared-Jack to spawn. ; ; No drop. Starting to remember why I quit in the first place. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Lol if you think 0/1 rate is bad
bruh, Rabbit Charm ALWAYS had a horse shit drop rate, in the entire time since playing retail from 2004-2014 I killed that little mother fucker every time I saw his ass, and never once got the drop
I used to set a goal of 1 VE kill per day and it still took me weeks on end to get a hairpin.
Mans went 0/1 on an item with a < 5% drop rate and he's rage quitting lol
Bruh you wanted the 75 era experience.
