Also if you are lvling a mage class I recommend doing the run quest a bunch. Gives a really nice 3 hour food each time (candy cane).
You start off so broke it’s nice for free food.
so if i'm jumping around from place to place (house sitting, dont judge). am i screwed or can i play my account on another IP address?
edit: friend i'm house-sitting for made an account a week or so ago and quit almost instantly but it is probably gonna make me go through their silly IP exception ticketing process. ah well c'est la vie
You can move around. Ip only becomes when creating the account. But also if you go to a friends place I would put in the ip exception.
I used my phone hotspot when my husband drove us down to SD, and we both logged in at his parents’ house without issue. We did the ip exception at our house.
yea can't really do most of the stuff the ticket asks for, the other account holder is 5000 miles away lol
Apologies, 'nother question. I keep seeing people mention an Exp-Ring Ticket or some tutorial thing for an Exp ring... uh, where can i start and/or get that? Cause its sure rough to find this information.
starter quest. you take the adventurer ticket you get to an npc close to where you spawn, and then do a few things like level up to 5, etc.. and eventually you get a free ring
Ah okay, I got the 50 gil but didn't know it went past that, I'll just go back to them.
It's not the same NPC/questline. It'll be an NPC near the gate out of town, Bastok one is on the right side of the gate out of Bastok Markets. He'll ask you to like, use a weaponskill, check the AH, reach level 10, etc. The quest dialogue implies there's more after the free EXP ring but it ends there on this server so don't worry about anything after.
Not really using the Horizon discord very often except for bug reporting, but someone asked today why BST was so popular on the server so I responded with the following:
"Jug changes are very strong and Bestial Loyalty is an out-of-era ability. Combine that with the WoTG experience table and you have a recipe making BST overpowered as fuck. Also the server first 75 rolled BST knowing that ahead of time (horizon staff with insider info), and word got out. Simple as that."
It got deleted and I was banned lol. Either someone went rogue or they don't want people to know Monti is on the balance team? So naturally, time to repost it here for anyone missing that ERA drama.
You mean Horizon is just another Eden/Nasomi clone where the admins and their besties do things to get ahead of everyone else?!?
gdi I cant find a not-xbox-hueg linkable version of surprisedpikachu
Haha well I don't know about any of that since this is my first time on a private server, but that guy is a true no-lifer and was probably destined for firsts no matter what. I meant it more along the lines that people knew to watch him and copied.
But if that's a thing with these projects then maybe being unintentionally spicy struck gold.
I'd be fascinated to know Kipling's response to that. As my player my experience has been extremely positive so far, but stories like that REALLY suck
Whoever made that post about private servers always falling to the admins egos/biases probably had a point. It's just human nature.
I tried telling y'all at launch when they couldn't give a lucid reason for why they nerfed rdm the way they did. I tried having this type of convo on their discord, but they deleted that thread too after they continuously couldn't brainstorm a good reason for their actions and got tired of the bad look. They are def not on the level, and in a game with a grind like this I just can't recommend anyone play on the server.
Anytime an admin is challenged they are quick to delete the post or thread, especially when the admin is incapable of delivering a satisfactory answer. It's sad cause clearly there is a community here being underserved, but ironically a bunch of passionate nerds probably aren't the best shepards for this two decades old game. Horizon is NOT an era server lol, it's just a "best of" server without fixes for some of the worst things.

Really gonna have to see how/if they explain that, assuming it's true, but yeah, regardless of the circumstances, flat-out deletion always looks terrible and is absolute poison for any staff/user-relationships if not addressed immediately. Cannot advise against it enough.
Not a surprise to me that devs who refuse to elaborate on changes would instead use the info themselves to get ahead on their own server, the guy wants to live out a power fantasy where he has all the inside info and gets to abuse it for personal gain, I honestly don't have a big issue with that as long as he isn't abusing it to ruin the games economy or hindering other peoples fun, but if they're blatantly silencing people who question them then yeah that's fucked up.
