I don't wanna get banned either. But if you must ban me for speaking up, skip the discord. Just delete the character named Tyrath on the server and make that name available for other people to use.

Bro I crack wise all the time in that Horizon chat about Disconnects and Zone DCs and shit when people bring it up, hell I've definitely made a little salty post about how stupid the 20 minute wait timer on !unstuck is because its literally a Triple-slap-in-the-face punishment for not only encountering a No-Chocobo Bug, but a Zone-DC bug, and a Skybox glitch that forces you to Unstuck, but then you gotta wait 20 minutes after all that shit sandwich.
I haven't been "banned" or timed out yet and trust, there was salt being poured about the !unstuck thing cause I still think thats the dumbest possible solution to prevent 'abuse'. Like i get why theres a limitation but man way to pile on the "fuck yous" when you're already annoying about the other 4 bugs you just got in a row and RIP your party if you were trying to get to one.
Of course I said it nicer on there, and I wager I know why some of ya'll were timed out but hey, its era accurate if i remember BGs attitude in 2005.
Honestly don't know why they'd deal with having a community Discord for the server outside of strictly handling support related issues in a more realtime manner than using a website. Eg. account problems, bug reports, gm help (since the ingame shit for it is likely tied to POL which isn't handled in Horizon), and etc.
If people want a place to talk about the game or share discoveries outside of the game, they'll just host their own unofficial forumDiscord for it and save you the hassle of wasting brain space moderating in two locations instead of one.
Not playing this game, but any server that nerfs rdm and nin into the ground is doing it right.
Alt take: The jobs were built incorrectly and nerfing their current (past?) incarnations does nothing to fix that.
Like, as a concept, I'm 100% onboard with the idea that NIN never actually should've been a tank and instead a versatile DPS, but much like RDM being forced into a healer role out of community necessity, tanks are also traditionally in short supply within MMOs. Forget about private server sandboxes. The take without the give is what reeks of bias and favoritism. Punishing everyone else for what an insipidly tiny minority did, and oftentimes with cheats, really isn't any better.
Of course, addressing Utsusemi requires addressing damage calculations and enemy output at large (especially the game's prevalence of "FUCK YOU!" AoEs that aren't even heal checks when non-tanks just melt without -DT). As someone else noted, just upping the recast timer was the lazy solution, if you could even call it that. And I say this as someone who hated being told to just solo something when I dared to ask for help because, yeah, I didn't wanna poopsock an encounter. More so when a drop isn't even guaranteed. It should also be no surprise that my MMO philosophies have shifted toward making solo accomplishments more reasonable (and not just for "overpowered" jobs) while making it more difficult for players to hold their peers hostage, be it actively or through sheer apathy. Content design matters.
"How would you build the game without mid-combat gear swapping?" is a question I find some should ask, as the answer will point out how lacking jobs are on the base level when it comes to both efficacy and identity. Can't have an OP RDM if they can't carry 8 sets of gear at once and flip 'em around at a whim. Subsequently, if the job is actually meant to be flexible, their primary gear choices need to reflect that. 8 sets of gear tells me RDM's equipment options actually sucked and that people had to scrape and claw to be second or third-rate to other jobs. Or if you want a smaller scale experiment, remove them from E.Staves. But these historically aren't new balance observations from me and it's not like I didn't have my fair share of people argue against me in retail back when because I didn't like their status quo. The idea that SE made mistakes tends to be cancer to the classic enthusiasts in the end.
tl;dr

I remember originally that AoE attacks didn’t wipe all the shadows and SE made that change to try to discourage NIN tanking but people kept on doing it anyway
how bout dem fucking black screens
I posted this and got timed out from the media section:
I didn’t even say anything else.
And contrary to what some might be saying. I knew I was banned because I no longer could see the section. Not that I could see it and not post, it was just not there anymore, and eventually came back. When you get banned you can no longer see it. I know this is true because I went through it. XD
And listen. I’ve modded bg for fucking forever. I know people can be complete shit, and it’s a thankless job. It’s fine if they don’t want that stuff on their discord. I am not salty about it. More like, “ Oh ok, I won’t post memes.”
I just don’t want misinformation as to what gets people banned and such. Otherwise others may get into trouble, too, because they thought it would be ok.
@Ksandra What's your discord name anyway?![]()
I don't know what your discord name is, but I didn't delete your meme lol. Feel free me to DM me on Discord so I can look into it. My DMs are open on the Horizon server.
I didn’t say you, specifically, deleted it. Idk who did. I just know I posted it, within 2 minutes of posting it I could no longer see the media section. After about 6 hours, I could see it again.
Project also insists he couldn’t see the discord at all when banned. It just wasn’t there on his list.
You might want to look at the horizon discord settings.
No reason to dm you. I don’t care that I was temp banned. I just know now not to do that again, which is 100% fine. I am not asking for anything outside of just being transparent.
