These are era-appropriate responses my man, get into it
I mean they have a vision for their game. There's a level I respect that. It's not like we won't know a decent amount of the changes within the first week or so cause of no lifers
.
All that matters is that you are having fun with your boys. That's all that ever has mattered. If it's fun then we stay, if it sucks we don't stay. So far the vision seems quite intriguing.
Nothing about nerfing rdm sounds intriguing. The job was literally only an MP battery with the best looking gear, that's all. It excelled at nothing except an occasional YouTube video about a rdm with mostly unobtainable gear soloing content they spent years preparing for.

Maybe it's just not for you then. It doesn't have to be for everyone. For me personally I've played Vanilla many times on classic servers and doing it again for the nth time just doesn't sound fun anymore. Knowing exactly how everything works and following the predetermined path to success. Maybe what they've done will be a shitshow or maybe it will be fun. Either way it should be interesting. As long as it gives me and guys something to laugh about on Discord then it's worth it for me. If it turns out there is a new meta to discorver even better.
Also doing the content post level cap raise re-adjusted for 75 cap in the future could be pretty interesting as I've never done any of that stuff period.
Making job adjustments without detailing those changes is pretty dumb, and I hope the changes are better fleshed out prior to release.
That kind of info being obfuscated is not the correct kind of wonder and exploration to aim for. Imo.

It's just the same as a fresh game coming out in a lot of ways. Just go into it without expectations and learn as you go. I think you made some valid points Salodin, but what you want doesn't really matter for these guys. They're gonna do their own thing and as the previous guy said, this shit just ain't for you my guy. I'm on the train of enjoying the shake up. I'm happy to discover new things and maybe be pushed to trying out new jobs. If it sucks then it gets uninstalled. It really isn't complicated.
Hopefully they don't end up disappointed by the fact that there were very, very few people in vanilla XI that were willing to sink hours, days, and weeks into testing and finding out how things work and the likelihood of any of us doing it again on a private server isn't very high. Have to hope there's some entrepreneurial spirits among their target audience who aren't as dumb as the guys spouting shit that they don't know anything about that I've seen.
I don't see the crowd being large enough for that to happen.
Even retail provided patch notes for job changes. Not really something I want to "discover" on my own so much as just play the damn job.
They're also not going to tell you if they changed any underlying systems so realistically you're going to have to test everything from scratch, because we all know the best parts about 75 cap were the 50 hours spend in Ballista and Brenner trying to figure out how much CE and VE Cure II was compared to Cure III. Maybe CE and VE don't even exist anymore. Who knows? Have fun.
can say i'd personally have 0 interest redoing the sort of labor that it takes to figure out a lot of that shit. was bad enough back when the sense of discovery was actually enjoyable and i had oodles of free time to waste. take away those two things and the fact that there's no guarantee that a private server will even be up to the same "engineering" standard as retail and it is a potential mess of frustration and wasted time
I will say that the project lead Aerec stated on one of the Dev Blog streams he knows that it's not fun spending hundreds of hours testing if a formula has been slightly changed or not at all hinting that formulaic changes will be shared with the community. So I do have faith that if any formulas were altered it will be shared. As for player numbers the Discord has over 5300 members which is pretty ridiculous for a FFXI private server. If even half of those people play that is a pretty healthy player base.
The whole play and find out thing is mostly for how jobs were updated, new camps, updated nm drops, etc. That's at least what I have gathered. Maybe the formula won't be shared at first but I can't see them keeping them locked up. Maybe Aerec can chime in on that.
It's not contradicting at all - because we've already said our patch notes will not outline specific details like "X specific value has been changed to Y specific value", but they will give more overall detail on what has been done to the game. I'd suggest checking out or dev blog write ups on the website if you want to know more - they are quite comprehensive if you have time to read them.
