It definitely doesn't matter lol.

At absolute worst he's getting probation and a fine. They are not putting him in jail dude. He's a first time offender for a crime that already almost never jails first time offenders. The rule of the law says he gets probation.

So he goes on probation with some vague descriptions of restrictions given and a strong chastising by the judge, a ton of political bullshit explaining how this is YUGE and a BIGLY DEAL for months on end while he loses exactly 0% of his voting base, if not gains some by virtue of inspiring otherwise non voters to go vote "vicariously" through him, given he would no longer be able to vote himself.

This was the easiest of his trials to convict on, but it's also the weakest. The only actual tangible benefit a conviction gives in the long term is that it makes him no longer a first time offender. If his other trials ever actually go to court, and that's a HUGE if, he would face harsher sentencing. But given all of the tactics going on in those trials and the seeming indifference both from the DOJ and SCOTUS to even attempt to call bullshit or expedite, I highly, HIGHLY doubt any of them ever will.

This dude is going to be President again, and God help us all. I virtually guarantee it.

There's a 0% chance it gets hung this week. If it gets hung, I'd guess later next week. Too many people put in too much time in such a high profile case. The judge will make those jurors sit for days to ramp up pressure on the holdout(s) to deliver a verdict. If there are NG holdouts, I'd guess it's 2 or fewer.

I'm going with guilty Friday. If there really is one die hard trumper, he will fold before the weekend or just after.

Maybe one of you lawyer types can find the exact verbiage because my google-fu sucks. Can a juror be demonstrably bias during deliberations and thus replaced with an alternate in New York? Does that make sense? I feel like it makes sense and should be a thing.

I think the deliberations will take like a week and then we will get hung jury. A couple of the juniors will not convict because they don't want to be murdered.

Jury requested a rereading of the instructions. There are attorneys in the jury pool. They know and understand the instructions. The portion they wanted read was about inferences.

My own inference from that is someone (or the group) is trying to convince another juror that they can infer something based on evidence and still maintain the "beyond a reasonable doubt" threshold.

Given there's two attorneys and they know the sentencing guidelines I'm going to guess Trump is found guilty on some, but not all charges, and doesn't serve any time in jail. Jurors will dangle some not guilty's on some counts for the holdout if they'll get to get guilty's on others with the understanding that there will likely be no jail time.

I'm kinda torn on the electoral consequences of such a tape leaking. Trump has probably had a response saved in his notes app for such a leak for years.

My cynicism says not much, his voters already know it's probably true, but an audio tape of a hard-R n-bomb is rough. It's not something passed off as locker room talk. I'm sure he's had the response drafted for years.

FWIW, I don't think it exists anymore, or if it does, it's locked down tighter than Ft. Knox. Can't imagine someone would still be sitting on it and waiting at this point.

I think it would have to be surprising for it to matter, and it would have to be pretty egregious to be surprising.

I don't think that the black men defecting to Trump have decided he is not a racist. I don't think learning he is a racist is going to shock them out of it unless he is in the running for the most racist person they have ever met.

Even if the tape exists most of the Trumpers either wouldn’t care because it already aligns with their beliefs or even if it did they would just say it was an AI deepfake which is a very reasonable response. I think we’ve already seen the AI Trump vs AI Biden debates that sound just like them.
