Agreed, even though he looks absolutely sick.

I understand why they did it (have the main character in the most recent title show up for marketing), but he's going to get around the same sales as Noctis did, because he's about as popular. Tifa, on the other hand...

But hey, if they're satisfied with the spectacle of his moveset (and what a fucking spectacle!) and a similar number of sales, so be it! Maybe we'll get her in Tekken 9, haha, or in Virtua Fighter 6!

I'm glad it's Clive and not Tifa lol. Even though he would fit in more with Soul Calibur but who knows when another one of those is happening

Although I would say Clive is a lot more popular than Noctis just off of Ben Starr's likeability alone

In terms of actual gameplay, it looks like he's much more of a traditional Tekken character than Noctis was, just with (lots of) added visual fluff.

They also showed off Torgal turning into Fenrir form when Clive goes into heat, and having a special intro with Leroy since they both have dogs. They fucking cooked with the work they put into Clive.

Online is down for maintenance but from playing with him in training mode he seems solid. High damage combos, solid mixups off of his command dash, and the damage potential off of the Zantetsuken mechanic is crazy.

The visual effect spam is fucking crazy though, seems like half his moveset is either summoning Torgal or one of the Eikons

Tifa is the most boring option possible. I'm glad they went with Clive.

They would also have a hard time differentiating her from Steve IMO without having her use a lot of Materia, which defeats the purpose of adding her.

7 Rebirth also had less sales than FFXVI both in japan and abroad, why would add the basic bitch character to a game full of them when Clive was sitting right there. It would be like bitching about Capcom adding Vergil to MVC3 instead of Ken.

Chip damage reduced, Power Crush Heat Engagers are gone (they're now just regular power crushes), apparently the balances changes across the entire cast is over 1500 bullet points

They need to massively tone down the tracking for moves that shouldn't track to begin with for me to really care about any sidestep changes

Being able to sidestep into the foreground while in a forced crouch is great though
