I had very low expectations for this campaign but so far I think they're actually cooking.
I really dont know how I feel about the expansion and changes so far.
I think the campaign was pretty strong (which shocked me). I think Matterspark is being shoved down my throat at every single opportunity and it's going to get old real fast. I think the Portal sucks ass and I truly do not understand what the goal of it was or how they thought they succeeded at whatever that goal was.
I like the ammo generation changes, I don't like some of the weird sandbox decisions they made around guns and abilities. Some of the new guns are cool. It looks like the Power grind is a fair bit more tedious but I am also not sure I actually care all that much about my Power because the world tier system is so convoluted. I think it's hilarious they completely bailed on Pathfinder after dumping so much effort into fixing something that wasn't broken in the first place.
And what would a new season/expansion be without a bunch of new completely bewildering bugs and silent nerfs? I'd say Edge of Fate is pretty par for the course for a Destiny expansion, all things considered.
Not being able to quit out of solo queue until you enter an activity sucks. I know it's a bug, but it's inconvenient. Going to orbit should mean going to orbit, not starting the next activity. They are fine, but contain mild spoilers if you haven't completed the campaign, which i haven't. I'm wondering if there is a way to score above a B on these lower difficulties?
Finished the story, it's... cool. I really despise Matterspark puzzles.
The weirdness of calling it quits with Final Shape is setting in, this is the first day 1 raid I'll be missing.
Might have to watch it >.>;
there have been a few things that make me want to, like the earnable Bushido set looks sick, the Crossbow sounds fun, there's a shark skimmer in the solstice event, but I'm staying strong so far (helps that I hear the campaign gameplay is kinda meh and all the system changes are a lot)
So this raid has non linear encounters and seems to be one of the hardest yet due to balance changes, running out of ammo, Bosses with ridiculous HP pools. I think some top streamers are still on the first encounter. Its rough lol. I dont think its been cleared yet.
I've had Cross' stream on all day and he is still on his first encounter. There is at least one team on the final boss, but it's first damage stage seemed like chip damage.

World's first happened a little before 4 AM ET
Cross cleared his first encounter at about 1 AM ET. I went to bed a little after and when I woke up this morning I saw he killed the stream not too long after trying the second encounter.
I caught a little of Datto's stream when I got home around 10 PM and it seemed like they had the mechanics down for a while, but were struggling with consistently pumping out good damage
From what I briefly skimmed, sounds like the mechanics weren't too bad, but the actual combat was tough and the four boss encounters were pretty challenging DPS-checks.
The non-linear raid sounds interesting, but curious how that affected the race. I mean, still took over twelve hours, but I'm guessing the strategies/optimal loadouts were pretty well disseminated?
No Outbreak Perfected I'm sure affected some damage builds. Thunderlord is pretty much the heavy king.
I dont think Destiny is for me anymore =/ The changes made to the grind just really turns me off. The power level grind to me just seems totally useless even more than ever. Maybe im just too old and they are catering to the younger players now.
Feels more like it's being geared to the mobile players.
Some of the new guns are cool to use. The destination exotic is neat, but almost a quarter of the charge bar is wasted switching to the fire mode that makes use of it. I don't see myself using it beyond getting it's catalyst.
The new saga that they're setting up seems alright, but this expansion alone ties up most of those threads with only a couple questions remaining and some possible hypotheticals.
Spoiler: show
Yea I got graviton spike and added the last catalyst that increases the dmg. Its fun on hunter. My issue is that to do anything at +50 needs limits any fun builds, shit is so over tuned on Kepler mythic its not fun. I need to mess with some of the gear sets beyond the bushido one. Im hearing good things about the tecsec one. Its just the grind to obtain t4 gear is playing mostly old content lol. I honestly also hate having to repeat the campaign missions 2 more times on harder difficulties. I hate the ball, im one that got motion sickness from it.
Up until this expansion, I had full timed Necrotic Grip, but matterspark makes it unusable. The visual effect blocks the field of view making you have to guess which direction you're traveling in.
