Bungie finally acknowledged it. It's a way to get streamers more views and everyone gets an emblem in 2026. The "top" streamers will have giveaways for Displates, Collector's Editions, Game Codes, & Emblems.

I still get on to raid with my friends every week, I don't mind the game. But this is kind of insane, even if it is par for Bungie (commit to a new cadence for updates, immediately fail to meet said cadence). I hope that elusive roadmap accounts for a population of 0 by the time June hits.

Edit: Also this is basically turning Shadow and Order into the next mini-expansion we were supposed to get in the summer, so it's gonna be basically 9 months without a content update lmao. I sure hope Marathon pops off because they're basically euthanizing Destiny for the sake of Marathon's launch.

Conspiracy theory is that this is on purpose to push destiny players to purchase and try Marathon. When you look at the timing of everything and the actual content loop in renegades its literally the same as Marathon, extraction contracts invasions etc........ think about it.. we were being groomed for Marathon lol. Nothing is coincidence.

Now the proposed system of NPC's (i.e. XI/XIV Trusts) doesn't seem that far fetched. A system like that is already present in Rising for match-based content that can't be filled with players. PVP will all bots is a trip.

Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.

As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.

It also says at the end they'll be discontinuing TWIDs until they have more to say about Destiny, which definitely implies a new game of some type. Whether it's a spin-off or a D3. But I don't expect that news to start dropping until like, 2030 lol.
