In the PCGamer interview it also sounds like Well of Radiance is getting bonked, and roaming supers are getting buffed in some unspecified way.

They should though.

They're nerfing the Architects.
Pretty soon, Guardians are getting a little sturdier. Starting in Lightfall, physics collision damage will no longer be lethal to Guardians. Fall damage will still be lethal when Lightfall launches, but we plan to also make that nonlethal in a mid-Season update. You’ll still take damage from physics collisions, but it will generally leave you at 1HP instead of outright splattering you.
Edit: beaten >.<
Someone at bungie is a big fan of the Starfire build, lol. Can't believe they're adding a fragment that cures on grenade kills.

For reference, when they did one of these for Witch Queen, it was only 3200 words.
Communication is great, hearing and incorporating feedback is great.. but as amazing as WQ and its seasonal stories were, I don't think I'm alone in saying this year was the least engaged I've been with D2. And I don't think it's fatigue or burnout, or anything like that, I think the game steered far too hard into unfun and unrewarding changes this year.
Like, I wanted to play this season, I wanted to have fun doing things I enjoy, but pretty much all my free time went to farming red borders aboard the Leviathan. But also, what's the point of farming loot in a looter when we are unkillable monsters? Curious to see if their changes do enough to rein us in and if they're able to recapture the magic...
Season of Plunder aside, which was easily my least played season this year, my biggest complaint of the Witch Queen era is honestly just Exotic armor. We didn't get a single Exotic Armor pass the entire year, before or after all the 3.0 subclasses were out. There's a lot of armor that's just dogshit, and even the new ones we got this year were frequently DOA they were so bad.
I think the 3.0 reworks were pretty good overall (super balance aside), and while we feel unkillable now, I think the newer activities ramping up the enemy density and capping us at 5 under level in Heists was probably also smart. I expect the density to continue into Lightfall. The big failure with Light 3.0 is definitely the super balance, and particularly with Titan, which has 5 roaming supers (two on the same subclass) - four of which are melee-based -, one support super which is just completely inferior to Well of Radiance, and one burst super which is useless without Cuirass of the Falling Star. Roaming supers in general are in a bad state right now, but the Titan ones are particularly shit, and there's zero reason Sunbreaker should have two of them. It's great that Arcstrider got Gathering Storm, but Burning Maul really should have gotten the same treatment.
I think most of the weapon changes this year have been good, and I think the Heavy changes going into Lightfall will make Heavy weapon choices more interesting than they currently are. The 3.0 weapon perks like Incandescent and Voltshot are very strong and fun to use. Vow of the Disciple was cool, and the weapons are all pretty good. Both new dungeons were neat and also have good loot. The Throne World was a cool new destination, and bringing the Leviathan back as a patrol zone was really neat to me. I also appreciate the return of some of the Mars areas that were vaulted.
Overall, having pretty much not played the two years prior, I'm pretty satisfied with the way Year 5 has gone. Lightfall looks pretty neat so far, so if they can actually take the feedback they're getting around supers and the seasonal model to heart, I think year 6 will be another good one.
I was hoping that the current season, as the 3.0's were all out would have been an Exotic Armor 2.0 or something as well, but alas. I remember fairly early on in Rainbow Six Siege one of the seasons was called "Operation Health" and focused on bug fixes, QoL improvements, etc. I know that may not hype people or drive engagement as much as 'content' does, but I think a lot of games could benefit from throwing in a cycle like that on occasion.

Dropping season names early this year
5,000 words and "Gambit" doesn't appear once, lol.
