It more likely each states' secretary of state will need to make that call. Then it would get expedited through each respective state Supreme Court if a change can't be legally done after the convention.

would be the most minor road-bump, Vance would almost assuredly step down willingly and Nikki step up and the RNC ratify without protest. and that as it should be, presidential candidates should have full authority to pick whichever veep they want and so replace them as they desire.

legally / morally only issue would arise after early absentee ballots start getting mailed in, earliest ones in September i believe.
