For what it’s worth the White House is firmly denying The NY Times reports that Biden is being asked to step aside
NYT also refused to endorse Biden, first going with Warren, then Bernie before finally endorsing Biden in 2020. So I'd take anything the NYT says with a large grain of salt.

Yea, i'm not clicking and going to that site.
tl;dr: every number in a reputable poll has swung against Biden significantly enough that they would kill any hope of getting elected.
But it is just one poll and who knows where the numbers would settle to in a month.
I don't think we have a lot (any?) of Biden diehards here on the forum, but for me the debate swung my position from "eh, why not Biden?" to "please not Biden, but if we must"
He barely looked capable of making it through meetings in his current presidency. In 4 years I wouldn't want him in the position. However, the alternative is currently Trump, so . . . .reanimated corpse of Biden 2024
I'm a Biden die-hard in the respect that I will defend he was the clear OPTIMAL choice in both 2016 and 2020. I also think he SHOULD be cruising to re-election this year if reality mattered to most of the country. Like his actual results have been fantastic when you consider all the elements in play. And even if he was sundowning hard (which I don't necessarily believe), he's still leagues better than Trump.
But I am not wedded to letting us go down with the ship if the debate performance proves unrecoverable. I'm skeptical that switching is a panacea to the issues, but we might be in "Might as well try it" territory.
FWIW I think Biden is willing to step aside if it is actually clear he has no hope, just like LBJ did. But I don't know if we have reached that point (in his mind).
I was doing that until tapatalk started loading x links
So git gud

Biden's accomplishments in a single term have been staggering.

i don't think Biden has had all that much to do with them tbh, and a Kamala term would largely see more of the same (dependent on Congress / economic movements / the million input stimuli that influence the successes and failures of presidencies that have nothing to do with presidents)
Yes I think most of us know that presidential accomplishments rarely are the result of the actual presidents but as the heads of the administrations which perform them, they are the de facto recipients of the credit.
administrations are the ultimate school group project if u will
feels positively unreal that we're probably about to have a second trump term
Feels positively unreal that people are so fucking stupid that voting for Trump is somehow a net positive for them in the face of the supreme court dismantling our institutions.
Feels positively unreal that a guy who has literal brain worms and had to deny both eating a dog and committing sexual assault is pulling 8% just because he's non-mainstream.
Look man, I love dogs but isn't it a cuisine in places??
You may recognize that the U.S. is not one of them.
And? Gred seems surprised he's polling that high despite that. My point was even here it's not that big a factor.
The brain worms and sexual assault should matter far far more.
