Danny literally did not drag them to his level, and I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for why they're asking for leniency. Notice they're not saying "dude is totally not a rapist douche don't punish him" they're saying "don't go further than you need to".

Again, while it's baffling to me that they're such advocates it tracks with everything they've stood for in the past.

I'm anti death penalty, and it doesn't make me somehow pro-murder if I wrote a letter saying "hey don't put that dude on death row". I just wouldn't say "he's a good guy and I'd trust him with my kids". Shit just doesn't make sense.

They could've and should've said nothing. Not them making their whole brand on the government needs to be more active in stopping sexual abuse and sex trafficking. Going in front of said governments for hearings about the subject and wanting harsher punishments and more resources allocated towards that. But then when it's someone you know, you're implying it couldn't have been him because of x, y, and z. They are definitely implying it couldn't haven't been him but since they couldn't stop the guilt verdict they want him to serve as little time as possible for being a sexual predator.

It's giving that executive producer on Law and Order SVU that was found to have all that child porn.

I think I read the cult tried to bully the victims into remaining silent, and then escalated the bullying to threats. The lawyers also leaked sensitive information about the victims (which falls under the threats). I have no idea how the Church of Scientology is still allowed to exist and be protected.
