I'm not seeing where she's calling for trans women to be murdered, I don't even see mention of "prison" or "jail" doing a quick search. Where's the tweets where she said this? Did I miss them?

Edit: Also why are people calling out the house elf slavery as being bad in the books? Last I remember reading them it wasn't shown in a positive light. Hermoine actively campaigns against it as an injustice and while ridiculed by some others support her. Mudblood is a slur some people thing there's nothing wrong with and others find it appalling within the books. Books don't all need to be about a racially diverse uptopia of multiple species living in harmony with zero conflict. Sometimes you need a space Hitler.

One of those links mentions Reddit subreddit not letting people post comments about the author....so what does that accomplish really?

Looks like a lot of clapping themselves on the back. Again, she literally doesn't make any $$ off this game so you boycotting the game itself is actually hurting the developers and other people in the crossfire and not really hurting her. Her "reputation" hasn't been hurt enough to stop this game from being made, yet people were boycotting the newer movies (They were horrible shit anyways so not like people missed much) before this, and the weird play before/after that, and before that it was something else.

In 3-4 months no one is going to remember any of this shit, and we'll get news of a new Harry Potter license movie/game/spin-off and this will all start up again. It's just the newest thing in the drama farm line and will get tossed to the side in no time at all. People will play the game, enjoy it and if it sells well enough there will be another one. Reviews of it all seem pretty damn positive.

Let's not pretend people don't want a social media platform that isn't tainted by right-wing crazy. People would happily throw away twitter, twitch, youtube, and so on if a viable alternative wasn't so prohibitively expensive to create and to a lesser degree maintain. We've seen the right try and fail. Whether that's a result of mismanagement or lacking interest is another story.

That said, using twitter doesn't cost a dime (for now), and is on record for being in the hole. Basic use is arguably a detriment to Elon, which could ironically be seen as sticking it to him. Can't exactly say the same for people buying the game and handwringing about being an ally in a willful disregard of continued escalation socially and politically. Critique didn't just pop up overnight, either.

Nonetheless, this thread is proving a good example the world has a long way to go. Whataboutisms, leaning into the hate, defense through nostalgia, the foolish assumption JKR isn't seeing a dime for use of her IP, that the devs have somehow "redeemed" it with a token character poorly named, and so on. Some might even think I'm typing this out on my phone as some red-faced, teeth clenching, raging, frothing "autist" when I'm mainly just sighing in exasperation at the blatant lack of empathy and success of the counter-spin. Or maybe the exposure of who some simply are.
