This reddit post kinda sums it all up

1. Fisher and Oakland were negotiating on the Howard Terminal site and had disagreements on the affordable housing/community benefits portion of what would have been a huge development deal.
2. Fisher thought they could play hardball and purchase a Las Vegas site to put pressure on Oakland to give in to his demands.
3. Oakland publicly calls Fisher's bluff and pulls from negotiations.
4. Fisher calls Oakland's bluffs and seriously negotiates with Las Vegas, ending up at a different site.
5. Both sides lose. Oakland loses their team. Fisher gets a significantly worse deal and probably loses millions of future earnings in the process.
6. Lessons: No one learns anything.
