Spoiler: show
wasn't the original more like 20
nah, even my first playthrough of the game I think was only like 15 hours, the last casual run I did was around 8ish hours or so a few years back, so 10 hours seems about right assuming the puzzles are the same.

who you gonna believe me or your lyin eyes
I'm hyped for this but paying current day full price for a 10 hour game is just rough
I’ll do it because nostalgia makes us part with money in irrational ways
Atleast with Star Ocean, they shaved it down to $50. I'll probably still get the game though.
The new star ocean 2 was a pretty comprehensive update, definitely worth the 50
The OST is... well... We've always known that Yoko Shimomura is a goddamn genius, but yeah. Yeah. She killed it.
Its incredible. I'm basically buying an absurdly good remastered OST with a very solid 10-hour game tacked on. This is acceptable.
not 1 of u will play this game for only 10 hours i swearta
Yeah I definitely replayed this game multiple times when I was young. Even if it's only a 10 hour play through (which I don't think it is, at least not if you do all of Bowser's Castle to get all of the weapons) I'm still going to clock at least twenty on this.

This was my first RPG and I think was 13 maybe so this might be skewed but I definitely feel like the game took much longer than 10 hours to finish
As with pretty much all RPGs of the era, they might not take long if you take the optimized speedrunner approach, but for casuals or those not rolling with walkthroughs, anything short of 20 hours was usually considered a dud experience in my book. Not being some level of a completionist is just doing it wrong with these types of games, imo.
It feels like it took me almost 10 hours just to do that damn 100 jump thing back in the day.
Or that left right minigame.
I could see rushing through and avoiding battles hitting 10 hours. Any% speedruns are just under 3 hours, but thats including multiple glitches and the spellswap trick. Without all that technical stuff or reliance on rock candy, 10 hours for "playing the game normally" still seems abnormally low. 15-20 hours sounds more like it.
