Yes it would have been, and that's part of the problem. Damn-near the same climax 3 times in a row now.

I enjoyed the hell out of 5.0 and 6.0, but the law of diminishing returns is a goddamn thing. Its approaching 90's Saturday Morning Cartoon-levels of repetition when it comes to the 28-minute morality lesson wrap-up before the neutral state of the series is re-asserted for the next episode.
I think he meant if we follow the flow of the story with arus's suggestion, it would play out like Shadowbringers.
I still disagree with "Stormblood was 2 stories so it suffered narrative" when no matter how you slice it, it was always 1 story with multiple concurrent campaigns because the world is large and doesn't revolve around the WoL, which I'm come to realize is a lot of people's problem with DT. Story not glazing the hero enough and making us the center of attention all the time.
Suffice to say, I disagreed heavily with Proth's review and had the same amount of issues with DT as I did every expansion. The main egregious thing DT did was give us some shit voice direction for the EN voices. "Spheeeeeeeeeennne! listen to me." is just so so fucking bad and the VA herself should take that criticism to heart instead of trying to rile up some shit race controversy like people not liking the song "Smile" means they hate gospel music cause of black people.
DT only really struggled at two points for me: (1) Pelupelu capitalism; and (2) the kidnapping segment
I was ready for the next zone when they threw the kidnapping segment at us, and all we did was a stealth mission. If that resulted in a simple battle with Bakool Ja Ja it would have made the segment more bearable.
Oh and the Bakool faceturn should have been teased earlier, even if with simple lines of "I have to do this" or "I will save our people father."
The 2 narrative thing feeds into the belief that both the Doma and Ala Mhigo storylines wound up watered down because of the ping pong between the two fronts. As much as you want to say the plot doesn't revolve the WoL, us being there unfortunately dictates otherwise. Honorable mention to the whole timescale nightmare of the MSQ and how it's supposed to take weeks to sale east, but everything just kind of conveniently waits for us.
To say my take on DT would otherwise be a repeat of Shadowbringers is a gross simplification unless we just want to default to us doing good anywhere is that so fuck having story and new zones at all. Vauthry and Eumore isn't exactly what I'd call a military state even if tyrannically ruled. And while the Alexandria side takes closer to Garlemald in that regard, there's still mileage to get over the robots thing or tweaks to soul extraction forcing potential conscription. Obviously it'll never happen, so what it is will never align with what it could be, but Living Memory was just... a dull slog even if I personally had sympathy for Erenville. Krile, though? Frankly, ball fumbled on her narrative.
After a major incident plagues the First/Tuliyollal, Graha/Wak Lamat seek the help of the WoL and the Scions to set things straight. They go zone to zone, learning about the people and fixing things along the way. The one who brought the tragedy, Ardbert/Zoraal Ja, only did so because they were so singularly focused on their own perspective of what is right and wrong, but ultimately the final villain is someone otherworldly, Emet Selch/Sphene, who is hellbent on saving their own people and restoring the life they originally had, even if it means sacrificing tons of other people to do so.
I dunno, sounds like your idea is just a Shadowbringers ripoff to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's hardly accurate - DT is similar to ShB only as far as all the expansion have the same format, 6 zones and the plot is paced out the same in all of them. Gulool Ja Ja calling for a succession contest isn't the same as a shard ending Calamity, WoL learning about regions from another reality isn't the same as Wuk Lamat learning about the regions of her own nation, Ardbert wasn't any kind of antagonist for that expansion and his actions in the present didn't drive the plot and he didn't set out to do evil deliberately (and don't start with 2.x Warriors of Darkness arc that also wasn't similar) and Emet's plan being evil but explainable by his own (flawed) perspective isn't the same as Sphene's because hers was explicitly impossible as pointed out by Graha.
DT has flaws in it's narrative but it being a mirror of ShB isn't one besides how formulaic all the expansions are. The final MSQ dungeon being a vehicle for exposition/flashbacks has become an especially bad bug bear after that expansion specifically, admittedly.
I'm not saying it's a mirror as it is. I'm saying if the expansion was done how Arus2001 suggested it should be done above, it would be more or less a mirror. My post literally says "your idea", not "the expansion as it is"
Plus I was being a bit facetious, but I suppose that went over y'all's heads
Did you even read my posts? How are you even getting that what I wrote was actually comparing ShB to DT as the expansions that they are?
I'm actually kinda flabbergasted over here that I even need to clarify this
Perhaps the true homage to IX was the back quarter basically being Necron.
