NFL Week 10: A look back at predictions from the first half of the season.

Just over half the NFL games have been played, so it's time to revisit our awful week 1 predictions.

Season predictions from me at Week 1. I still like 7/8 division calls, which is pretty damn good.

MVP - Joe Burrow (Probably not, but there's another half of the season to go...)
Offensive Player of the Year - Ja'Marr Chase (Definately not)
Defensive Player of the Year - Jaelan Phillips (Definately not, but after recovering from injury, he has really began breaking out. Was crushing double and triple teams against KC)
Offensive Rookie of the Year - Anthony Richardson (oof)
Defensive Rookie of the Year - Jalen Carter (almost certain unless injury bug bites)
Comeback Player of the Year - Calvin Ridley will deserve it and not get it. (I guess I don't understand this award. Hamlin still odds on favorite. Ridley doesn't even get odds. Tua is somehow #2).
Coach of the Year - Dan Campbell (Probably in the lead. I think Demeco Ryan deserves honorable mention.)

Division winners:
AFC East - Miami Dolphins - (Looking good)
AFC North - Cincinnati Bengals - (2.5 games behind Baltimore with a loss at home to Baltimore. Not looking great for the division win.)
AFC South - Jacksonville Jaguars - (This was the free space on the bingo card)
AFC West - KC Chiefs - (Another free space)
Wildcard teams: Denver Broncos (LOL), New York Jets (distant chance), San Diego Chargers (ehh, less of a distant chance)

NFC East - Philadelphia Eagles - (Again, looking very good.)
NFC North - Detroit Lions - (With the Cousins injury, this looks good)
NFC South - New Orleans Saints - (Leading the division, but who know and who cares...)
NFC West - San Francisco 49ers - (Tied with Seattle, lost 3 in a row. Still think they pull it together.)
Wildcard teams: Dallas Cowboys (yes), New York Giants (definitely not), Seattle Seahawks (probably better than 50/50)

AFC Championship: Miami Dolphins @ Cincinnati Bengals - (Not out of the question)

NFC Championship: Detroit Lions @ Philadelphia Eagles - (Also not out of the question)

Superbowl champion: Cincinnati Bengals over Philadelphia - (Again, not out of the question, but it'll be tough sledding for a WC team to win the superbowl. Has only happened once since 2010, and that was with the greatest NFL player to every play the game leading the way.)

Hot takes: Buffalo misses playoffs (I still like this pick). Russell Wilson gets MVP votes (Jesus fuck that was terrible). Josh McDaniels gets fired mid-season (DING DING DING).

Thursday, Nov. 9
Carolina at Chicago -3.5

Sunday, Nov. 12
Indianapolis at New England +2.5 - I'll take NE here to not completely melt down...yet.

Houston at Cincinnati -7.5 - Cinci playing like one of the best teams in football.

New Orleans at Minnesota +2.5 - I think Minnesota plays hard and eeks out a home W.

Green Bay at Pittsburg -3.5 - I'm sure Pitt will get outplayed in every facet except the final score.

Tennessee at Tampa Bay -.5 - Will Levis hype train adds more steam.

San Francisco at Jacksonville +2.5 - Give me a Jacksonville upset to send the Niners questioning everything (although they shouldn't).

Cleveland at Baltimore -5.5 - Cleveland gonna chase Lamar all game, which may not be a good thing...

Atlanta at Arizona +2.5 - I don't know here. Atlanta does something well, right? It's fucking Arizona, not the Dallas Cowboys.

Detroit at LA Chargers +1.5 - Won 2 in a row. Going in confident.

NY Giants at Dallas -16.5 - I mean, c'mon

Washington at Seattle -6.5 - Seattle takes sole possession of 1st place in the NFCW

NY Jets at Las Vegas +2.5 - I think Vegas plays really hard and gets laser focused for their interim coach. And honestly, it won't take much more than that.

Monday, Nov. 13
Denver at Buffalo -7.5 - Denver hasn't played bad football last 3 weeks. Have won 2 in a row. Still, Buffalo gonna come out with something to prove.

this game isn't as bad as I thought it would be, mostly because the defenses are making the offenses look more competent than they actually are.

But it's not a GOOD game.
