The content: 32k people have pertussis in the US this year, which is a lot more than last year.
The disconnect: 32k people / 341 million people in the US = 0.01% of the population has had a reported pertussis case in this calendar year. If you were in a crowd of 10,000 people, on average 1 of them would have had pertussis in the last calendar year. THAT ISN'T WHY "EVERYONE AROUND YOU IS COUGHING!" It's fucking winter.

A lot of those RSV carriers from 5-70 can't really tell they have it. My kid massively exposed my wife and I to it. She either somehow avoided it or was completely asymptomatic, while I had a miserable two weeks.
