Twitter+ Tiktok would get antitrust eyebrows raised in a different administration, but you might be right due to the suboptimal timeline.
Private equity could only buy an operate Tiktok on firesale because otherwise there is no reason (even for them) to believe they could add value to it.
Do we know whether the buyer will get the algorithm that people assume is basically magic?
I don't think we are talking about ideal outcomes here. We are talking about someone who can get together 11 digits of financing in 90 days, so the list is pretty short.
Of course, if I was Tiktok I would have moved everything proprietary to China a year ago and the US operation wouldn't be worth a shit.
Shouldn't this fact lend credence to the feds claims in the first place? If ByteDance is seriously willing to completely walk away from the US market vs. ...walking away from the US market with a gigantic bag of cash, then one could surmise that there is something they absolutely do not, or perhaps cannot, disclose/give up under any circumstances?
The weird, bipartisan nature of the Tiktok ban makes it feel like our intelligence community has them completely dead to rights in some capacity.
It's an open secret they're using their algo to push anti US or at the least detrimental-to-the-US content. Idk if we should just openly allow that, or openly not care that they do that

Is it anti-US content if it's true about America?
Er. Not even close but if that's all your old man yells at clouds brain can comprehend go ahead sis.
Acknowledging all the faults in America does not make one Anti-American.
Why the fuck would they? Schumer and other and others already trying to back pedal something they started by claiming it needs more time and making fools of themselves and just making it very apparent that if bytedance doesn't budge it's gonna cause way more issues on the U.S side then to them so they can reap a ton of rewards.
Lol this? If they're pushing shit like 'Hey America spends more $$ on Israel murdering innocents then they do on your own healthcare or helping homeless"....ok cool? I mean fucking Fox News and others are pushing crazy shit too but I guess saying Ivermectin is a game winner and helping kill off people doesn't count as "anti-US" so good on them!Is it anti-US content if it's true about America?
Not really the same at all? I mean Youtube is just as bad as TikTok but because it's Google and pushing it's own wild crazy shit that is causing havoc within the US it's cool and fine? As long as we fuck over ourselves it's good!!Big "Both Sides Are Bad So Vote Republican" energy.
Anyway if/when Trump comes in and saves the day, he just won the youth and damn it's starting to look more and more like that painter from 1933 come back. Might as well get my pink triangle tattoo now
So are we cool with Russia pushing fake news and disinformation into US culture too now? Because we clearly are with China I guess, despite them being equally as much of a global adversary to the US and democracy as a whole.
Is it just because Russia doesn't have a super popular social media app? Maybe Putin should make one.
If US companies pushing bullshit disinformation into people's minds means that anyone can and it's 100% fine because America bad, I don't want to hear a single fucking word about Russia or election hacking or any of that shit.
Seriously wtf is this insane whataboutism?
Maybe we should send some money over to Xinjiang so they can kill off the rest of the Uyghurs quicker. After all, Zuckerberg is an asshole. Can't play favorites!
Sundar Pichai is a real dickhead. Maybe we should cut aid to Taiwan? Wouldn't want to seem biased. America really fucking sucks after all. One China baby!
What fake news, misinformation and lies has China/CCP specifically pushed through tiktok. Give examples with evidence that backs up the claims
