I can't see anyone returning to TS, Vent, Mumble, etc. in any type of serious capacity. A new competitor will come into the void that Discord leaves after this draconian change.
I can see Steam creating a quality discord-like platform and owning the market.
Steam's messaging capabilities are pretty far away from Discord at the moment.

For your basic-bitch persistent text channels+voice+image/video support, it's fine. Only thing it lacks for me mainly is sending archives/files (mandatory in some programming/modding groups I'm in), and you can't just arbitrarily stream whatever you want on your PC with it.
Discord's general ease of streaming is probably its biggest perk here. Not everyone has the means or patience to properly setup something like OSB as a stream target (or virtual webcam). There's also Discord alternatives like clients using Matrix, but last I checked, most of those lack streaming functionality as well.
enshittification strikes again
just wondering if it's too convenient/big to fail or if there will actually be a huge drop in users. more importantly will there be a steep drop in onboarding because who wants to sign up for this shit?
They're beefing hard with Elmo over this tweet

A reasonable person could probably be annoyed given the explicit lyrics - not that most people voicing that point aren't decidedly unreasonable, but there it is.
Most of those people upset are individuals that dont even speak Spanish though.
Isn't it weird that Elmo is the only puppet child on Sesame Street?
Edit: Oh, maybe Big Bird is supposed to be a kid, too.
The artists almost always use clean edits of their songs. Which is super easy since the performances are heavily edited. It's rare that an act actually plays fully live. It's a performance more than live music.
The outrage is funny tho. Most of these folks are pretending they don't remember the absolutely insane pearl clutching after the Janet Jackson nip slip. Maybe they don't though since that was 23 years ago
Elmo commenting on a Superbowl halftime show by 50 cent would not be that weird, no.
You think the Count has ever murdered anyone and drank their blood?
