From what I've read, it allows the blocked account to still check out public posts, which is nothing new in the X-era since you could always just view them with either direct links or with a second account. The block function just prevents them from interacting with you/keeping you in their feed on that one account. People saying "I'm going to bluesky!" over this who don't realize it's the exact same situation there since you can view any public posts there even without an account (which was how it also used to be on Twitter before X changed it to accounts-only to see feeds, or requiring a direct tweet link).

My only experience with bsky was it lacking video playback (maybe it has it now), compressing images even worse than twitter (2K resolution limit, and more artifacts = not good for artists), and that my generally empty account to hold my username there kept getting bot followers that I had to prune (where-as on twitter I have to actively be posting something to get a bot's attention). I have my feeds on twit curated to avoid next to all political shit, so I just primarily see the kind of things I want to see.

Bluesky also lets you configure your account so only people who are logged in can see your tweets. Their blocking system is a bit more robust in general, as well. No, this doesn't prevent alt accounts, but I think it's important to remember the average hater is a lazy motherfucker and will move on once they can't get a rise out of someone.
