Seems like Biden is forgiving my college loans in February, the article I just saw said anyone who's carrying debt older than 10 years and less than $10k will get the remainder stricken. Only about $4k for me but I'll take it.

I just saw where if your loan is less than 10,000 and been in repayment for more than 10 years, It'll be forgiven in February if you apply for SAVE. I have a such a loan from undergrad that was in deferral through grad school, then through COVID. I havent made 10 years of payments, it's just over 10 years old. I wonder if that counts?

I think this is based off the fact there was a previous loan forgiveness that kicked in at ten years that Trump killed. I remember that because I left the public sector as a result.

Which are you trying for? Have you been working for a non-profit for 10yrs for the public service loan forgiveness? Otherwise there's the SAVE shit which is setup to forgive you after like 20yrs of paying on loans or something? And probably a few others too. There was a USA today article with interviews from young people about why they weren't going to vote for Biden this time. One of them said that even though she thinks Trump is worse, it wasn't worth the effort to vote when Biden didn't keep his promise to reduce student loan debt.

Even though he tried and failed.

Debt is being forgiven for specific smaller groups but the more general loan forgiveness was struck down by the supreme Court back in June

The rapid one time forgiveness was struck down. The ongoing forgiveness is slow roll and could take months/years.
