Burrow has missed more games to injury than Tua. Love has 1 season, where only half was good (but it was brilliant). Tua has injury concerns and hasn't won big games, and Herbert is a fiero with a Ferrari body kit. Looks fucking amazing, can actually get on the road and drive, but that's about all we have seen, needs a new mechanic (coach).

Then there's Hurts. I don't know what to make of him. Won more than all the others. Not as skilled as burrow. Not as accurate or efficient as Tua, not the flashiness of Herbert. But he wins and he's available...0 injury concerns.

If you take each of them and place them on the same exact surrounding cast, the order is:

1. Burrow
2. Herbert
3. Hurts
4. Love
5. Tua

If Miami had actually drafted Herbert, they would be shitting out playoff W's. Hurts might get downgraded when they phase out the Tush Push.

Maybe, but he's been shit in big games and doesn't get the big game criticism Dak and Tua get because he looks pretty and his coaching sucks (although Tua had awful fucking coaching for his first 2 seasons and he wasn't afforded any excuses).

They all have glaring concerns except Hurts.

None of them are Manning, Brady, Ben, or even Rivers. They all played, played well, and stayed on the field.

but nah yeah the criticism isn't entirely unwarranted. defense terrible, coaching sucks, he did everything he could against the Raiders in 2021, but rocking a talented receiving corp and only able to throw up 3 to Jacksonville's 31 in his only playoff game, inexcusable.

physically he's one of them fancy thoroughbred horses, skill-wise arguably best this side of Mahomes, but worry he isn't the best thinker. needs a coach who can do it for him, especially in high-pressure.

I hate the "take them and put them around the same supporting cast" argument. It's fucking dumb. Put each of them in the best system catered to them and then compare. Lamar is a significantly better QB than Purdy or Tua, but he's "stacks blocks in a corner" levels of dumb. He'd crumble in those system. Some QBs can fit multiple systems. Some are really good at one. That's why coaching and GMs matter.

burrow has the most playoff wins of the group. then hurts. then love. tua and herbert both have none, but tua has a 32-19 regular season record and herbert has a 30-32 regular season record.

it's lazy but at least it's honest.

chris simms has had josh allen as the best qb in league for 5 years straight when mahomes is already in the hall of fame with 2 super bowl wins and 3 appearances. i mean it's cool white cam is a physical beast and all, but at some point you just need to acknowledge what dudes have actually accomplished

I think the common thread between Burrow, Tua, and Herbert is a complete lack of stability. Tua and Burrow have always played with garbage lines, battled injuries. I think Tua has had about 5 different OCs. Herbert has played with garbage everything. Hurts has possibly the best o-line in the NFL and they stay healthy and his front office is incredible. And honestly, an argument can be made that he's the least gifted of the four.

Something something Bama championship game, but no Hurts can get a deep ball downfield, on the money, with ease. It takes Tua giving everything his little left arm has to under throw by 6 yards.

Over 20 million dollar 2024 cap hit for a player you expect to only play half a season. I think he's still got an 8 figure dead money hit if he's a post June 1st cut. Retirement would be best for Miami outside of a restructure.

Edit: only 5m in 2024 is base salary, the rest is pro rated signing bonuses which Miami will still be on the hook for. Unsure how it'd affect dead money if he's a post June 1st retirement.
