My tinfoil is that ugly sonic was aways a marketing ploy to get free word of mouth advertising.

Ans yeah first two movies were fun action adventures with just the right amount of fan service imo

Idk man, the amount of stuff they built for ugly sonic, including the very expensive movie models as well as early merchandizing (that obv didnt see shelves) makes me think they were, legitimately, just 100% out of touch. I mean look around at their other VG franchise(s). Paramount is currently buttfucking what can generously be called Halo, as an example.

No, this can easily be attributed to stupidity or just corporate arrogance, so I've always leaned on the side of "Out of touch".

The second movie isn’t bad but it’s entirely too damn long. Hopefully they cut back on the run time or at least pace it better. These kind of movies shouldn’t need to be 2+ hours imo.

Booked tickets for day 1!

Though I can't help but think the 21st dec release date doomed it a little? Sure it's holiday period but there's 3 national holidays here in the (Christmas, Boxing and New Year's day) to follow up on and a lot of people would be spending time with families or busy travelling etc

Don't think it matters. Merch and video sales are wonderful for this series. I poopood on this effort since the first movie, but I can't deny how successful they've been with it.

Looking forward to the film. In UK it releases 21st so I'll be there with my mate and his family on the first showing, so it should be nicely packed!

Fantastic fun film all around. Very recommended to watch.

It borrows elements from Sonic Adventure 2 and changes it up in a good movie makes sense way. And with the characters established from the recent movies, it makes for a nice adventure romp.
I laughed at the jokes and most of the funny moments, it was just that fun. No bother at all.
Not much else to say really, go watch it!!

A Metal Sonic (Sonic CD version) shows up, followed by multiple of them, but Amy also shows up and one shots them. So we know Amy is coming for the next movie. And post credits, Shadow is shown to have survived. Eggman may be killed off once and for all though as Jim Carrey doesn't want to do it anymore? He only did this film because money apparently. I need to research that.

I had hoped Metal Sonic appearing would be the end of it and we'd get a nice Sonic 4 movie with Metal Sonic as an antagonist, but the fact Amy shows up to dust a bunch of them with her hammer sort of lessens the threat immediately. The Metal Sonic appeared nearly similar to how a terminator would appear in the movie (time travelled/teleported) so my initial feeling was we'd end it at that, but I didn't expect to see Amy. Now that Amy is shown to be capable/strong, or that the Metal Sonics are just weak, it's all a waiting game now until the next movie.

I really like Metal Sonic because I consider it a rival character, even though that never really happened and Shadow eventually took that spot, more or less. Its appearance in Sonic Adventure 1 was cool but was more of a cameo/reference. It's why I like the Sonic animated OVA movie so much back in 1999 because it was built by Eggman to combat Sonic and it had some somewhat cool fight scenes!

The first 2 Sonic films were better. This felt like 3 different films duct taped together for an overall average movie. Super serious Shadow storyline from the Shadow the Hedgehog game. The Team Sonic film which was carried by Knuckles tbh. And the Jim Carrey presents Eggman and Robotnik comedy hour.
