    Venu - Streaming Platform from Disney/Fox/WB - Fall 2024

    https://deadline.com/2024/02/disney-...ng-1235817149/

Details like pricing are still coming into focus about the service, which will pool resources among three of the biggest owners of sports rights. One aspect yet to be determined is how the new venture will coexist with linear TV broadcasts.

Made available directly to consumers via a new app, the new service will also let subscribers bundle the product with Disney+, Hulu and/or Max.

It will feature the NFL and other major professional sports leagues, plus tennis grand slams, combat sports and college sports.

Uh. If Disney and Fox are teaming up for a single sports platform I think that probably spells the end for either ESPN or Fox Sports with one of them at least being sold off.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

There's still going to be sports blackouts. Nothing of value gained.

If it's cheaper than cable or stuff like YouTube TV it at least adds some short term value since live sports on ESPN/TNT/TBS is basically the only reason to have those services anymore.

Well assuming that also gets me access to the AEW shows on TBS and TNT I'd definitely cancel YouTube TV and just use that. Only channel I ever really use that it's missing is NBC for Sunday night football and I can just use an HD antenna for that (or Peacock I guess, since they always do those super cheap annual subscription deals)

That $42.99 ain’t gonna last long given they are already touting that early adopters can lock in that rate for 12 months

It's 30 bucks less than YouTube TV with the same amount of content I actually care about (ie live sports and AEW)

Assuming the quality/reliability is good that's an an easy choice.

Actually I guess I'd lose out on NBC Sports Bay Area, but I am definitely not paying 30 bucks a month during basketball season to watch the awful local commentators
