I still can't connect to friends and I have no clue why.
I guess I'll try again later when shit's less crowded, idk

Railgun was too good with safe mode on, unsafe mode railgun still does a shit ton but also carries the risk of blowing up in your face. Bunch of weapons got buffed too. Flamethrower, laser cannon, sniper rifle etc. Breaker is still great but isn't "omg meta"
Honestly glad they did it because it's force people to actually try new things. Flamethrower on a charger after it charges you, use it on their leg and they go down in seconds. Laser cannon is fucking amazing on tiny bugs and bots. Smoke is amazing for bots but worthless for bugs. So it all really depends on the enemy type, the actual mission objective (if you need to seal bug holes someone needs to bring a nade launcher or autocannon cuz it makes it way easier then chucking nades in. Or bring airstrike and know how to aim it)
Arcthrower x2 can melt chargers and everything else behind them super quickly but gotta be careful of killing your buddies.
None of this matters all the way up to level 8 and 9 difficulties anyways so no one should really care and they said they are looking into spawn rates of the heavies so there aren't a ton at once
Good take so far as I watch it
levels 8 and 9 are supposed to be crazy hard, requiring a team talking on coms and using team fed weapons when needed, etc etc. Not supposed to have Youtubers doing "I soloed HD Tier 9! NEW META OMG MOST DPS!!!"
Having an issue myself where my brother, who is on PS5, simply cannot add me or my friend (both on Steam) as friends. Like it just won't work, we can send and receive requests from eachother but clicking the "Add" button doesn't function at all and simply closes the pop up, and if he(PS5) tries to accept a friend invite from us it breaks his social bar in game and his social features stop functioning and the only way to fix it is reinstalling the game. So we cannot play with my brother unless our other brother, who has him as a friend already, acts as a "Bridge" for our parties.
Apparently, we're not alone in this bug and its existed since launch, where social features just sometimes straight up don't work for cross-platform players and there is no fix or workaround that works. It's very frustrating, and for the record the old "work around/fix" where you had to make sure your Steam name was standard characters between 3-16 letters or whatever doesn't apply to our situations cause we both conform to that standard already :\.
its such an unfortunately shitty bug, whats worse is why the fuck can't i just invite recent players to my lobby without needing to be friends first. Its really souring an otherwise good game for me, hopefully its fixed soon.
theyve been working on fixing the bugs though. i feel like theyre doing as good a job as they can.
I had the not-progressing difficulty bug and couldnt go above easy. it took a bit, but they got there
Mechs are out. Offensively great, defensively terrible. No mobility so call them where you need them.
Yup mechs seem to need support and aren't unstoppable killing machines which is great. Can't do stratagems while in one but might be a ship mod later on since apparently in HD1 you could. Also there will be other versions of the mechs + vehicles coming out. Pretty amazing we got mechs after only a month. Most live service games this would have been an update after 4-5 months or more
and make you pay 20 bucks for it
No doubt. It’d still be super cool if I could invite people to my game without needing them on my broken and non functional friend list :/. I'll wait for bug fixes but I wonder how far down the list "Cross platform friend invites" is and if its even a problem on their end and not something weird with PS+? Cause the one thing I did notice was that my older brother, who was able to add my younger brother cross-platform, still had an active PS+ subscription. Me and my friend did not, and couldn't add him.
Don't want to tinfoil what with needing to link a PS account in order to play, but perhaps an expired PS+ membership(even though the two of us are playing from Steam) is whats causing the issues and that would not be the Devs fault.
Edit: No just did the experiment myself and its thankfully not a PS+ issue.
Just finished a mission with 20+ rare samples in tow. Back on the ship and nada. Taking a break until things are fixed

Some gamers need to learn you shouldn't be picking up a game within 3 months of launch unless you're okay with likely patches and adjustments. Nonetheless, it's amusing when gamer rhetoric comes back to bite them in the ass as if this shit isn't a direct result of not telling people to fuck off from either the dev or social side for years, and years, and years now.
The influx of people for weekend+mechs is causing strain on their DB backend again I think. thankfully they retroactively gave people their shit last time so should be same for this. I think they are keeping track of everything it's just delayed by a shit ton.
Yeah, and it's pretty amazing how quick we've gotten some stuff from a 100 ppl team vs Blizzard or other AAA groups that take 3-4 months to push out a patch to adjust glaring flaws. Some gamers need to learn you shouldn't be picking up a game within 3 months of launch unless you're okay with likely patches and adjustments.
There's definitely sloth among the AAAs, unless it's a bug that benefits the player, but it's like... this shit's basically been going on for 2 decades now. I get that sometimes nerfs are dramatic, buffs aren't enough, or just generally that devs can and do miss the mark, but stuff's always gonna be in flux initially. Or perpetually if you go the Early Access route.
This game got A LOT harder after that last update. Can't even attempt challenging without actually trying hard.

Definitely feels like spawn rate on heavies went up
Yeah spawn rate of heavies is a bug they are looking into.
Night and day difference now going in with people who build around each other vs everyone wanting to solo the mission once they land. Not hard to just mow down heavies with 4 ppl there with the right tools but if you only split into groups of 2

Mechs are a great counter on bugs and AMR is still just as cracked for bots, ultimately Railgun nerf didn't change much for me since I ran it on Unsafe already anyway plus didn't choose it all too often
Illuminates no doubt going to be a bloodbath
Oh thank god I'm not crazy. I feel like last night when I was playing on level frigging 5 I had like an army of heavies on me at nearly every encounter. Felt like I was in 7+ ;;
Also I like 2 Groups of 2, but it definitely makes it rougher. When I play tonight/Tomorrow I want to try doing a level 7+ (We've done a few) where we stick together and bring certain weapon combos and see how well we do. I personally find the game more fun when I'm not meta-locking in order to survive, but I also want to see how much better it is if we do.
Yeah, it feels unnecessarily hard now... Two crashes, people dropping, 5+ heavies on the field at once... and my mech just exploding randomly?
Done for the day.
