    Ps5 1440p issues

I bought a new monitor specifically to pair with my recently obtained ps5 and it's telling me the monitor is 1080p 60fps and i don't know how to fix this shit and it's really frustrating me

Tried every fix I found on google and none are working. Anyone got any other suggestions?

Didn't buy a 2k monitor to play rebirth in 1080p

What monitor is it? PS5 is picky about what kind of connector it will output 1440p, 120hz, vrr, etc out to

Not sure why anyone would buy a monitor for a PlayStation... but last I checked VRR doesn't work at 2K anyway and that's probably something you're going to want for Rebirth given the performance controversies with the demo.

But along those lines, maybe if you have VRR turned on it doesn't let you select 2K?

VRR works at 1440p, but again the PS5 is VERY picky. To guarantee compatibility you almost need to have HDMI 2.1 which is still pretty uncommon and for monitors it's even harder to find a compatible display. Freesync Ultimate ones should work fine by and large but it still isn't guaranteed

The bigger problems with running a console on a monitor is how monitors handle upscaling and bandwidth compression compared to TVs. They don't necessarily make the signal that a PS5 is looking for since not every connector is made to a rigid standard.

I'm not expert, but I think that's not "almost need", but definitely need

Not necessarily. There are HDMI 2.0 TVs that can support a 1440p VRR signal. Freesync Premium and below monitors are the problem for the most part. If this discussion were about 4k it'd be a different story but 1440p isn't that demanding on bandwidth in comparison

I'm a streamer. I don't have a tv. I do everything from my PC. I watch netflix, youtube, game, stream, all from my PC

and to everyone else i figured out the issue my monitor is 1440p but it's hdmi 2.0 needs hdmi 2.1 for 1440p, but there's a workaround. it has display port. HDMI to display port adaptors are cheap, so i can just spend about 20 bucks and run it out of that port instead, looked it up on youtube and found one that for sure works

and yeah i mean 1440 not 2k, i had my resolutions mixed up
