Someone really went out of their way to make the worst review of Hyrule Warriors 3. The submitted score also doesn't match up with the review score.

Based on the specs of the Steam Machine (GabeCube), it's gonna have to be in the $500-600 range to be competitive

The question for me is if it'll provide enough value if it's priced to match a regular PS5, since on paper, the specs pen it at a little weaker than it (before considering that PC releases these days tend to run like shit without overcompensating on GPU specs). 8gb of VRAM will hurt it too given a lot of modern games, even on lower settings, just don't know how to stream textures anymore. I couldn't find any real info as to how feasible a 16gb SKU would be for Valve, or if everything in this current build is engineered for this exact spec.

I could actually use a backup PC that's also portable and affordable, and this may fit the bill on both ends for what I normally use my PC for.

The GabeCube I find more interesting than the Valve Frame at the present, even though the Frame's efforts with FEX could open the doors an ARM-based Deck/Machine in the future, if and when compatibility/performance levels reach the levels necessary to not be a detriment making the jump.

I say good for them for trying this again but it will all come down to the price unfortunately. The specs look pretty weak to do 4k/60fps consistently on a big monitor. I could still see this being very popular with people who already have a Steam Deck and don't use a PC for anything else than gaming. The PC people that still want frames to go vrooom are not going to buy this though.

I'm interested in the VR headset myself. I have a Quest 3, wondering if this will be a worthy upgrade to that and if so, will it be reasonably priced?

The GabeCube didn't really seem like something I'd need personally, but I could see it replacing my PS4 as a TV/Game box if it has like... hulu/netflix/etc.

The performance is likely on par with a mini PC I've used inside my home arcade, which is aimed at native 1080/60 on high settings for the games running on it (though the most demanding games on there are probably like... MK1 or Tekken 8). So with FRS on performance mode 4k is doable. Though that computer does also have 32GB RAM/16 GB VRAM

It'll be a beast for emulation, said PC can do PS3 and Switch no problem, even the notoriously hard to emulate games like God of War III and the PS3 SSX
