Marvel Rivals (PC/PS5/XSX) - F2P Hero Shooter

I mean if its good... the destructible environment pieces seem like interesting ideas. It really is just Overwatch but Marvel but hey maybe after the whole OW2 fiasco and the cut PVE and the paywalled characters (call them what you want but turning free day one new characters into FOMO pay-for-day-1 shit in a GD competitive game was heinous), if this game can manage to be just a LITTLE less scummy that modern Blizzard, it might find a fanbase.

Hopefully they're smart enough to understand if they want to win the Overwatch market, they should try matching the quality without the greed and random like 3 year development stop on their game to make content that now literally doesn't exist cause they canceled it.

I want this to be popular just because I've not forgiven Blizzard for Overwatch 2 being nothing more than a scummy monetization overhaul.

I'm looking forward to trying it because I haven't played any team shooter game quite like early days OW. I remember playing with multiple BGers and we had some really great times, but once meta set in and the game became formulaic, the fun was lost.

Lauches tonight/tomorrow,I think but am not positive that they got Milana Vayntrub to voice Squirrel Girl which is nice since she never got to play her in the live action show that fell through.

this is indeed third person Overwatch, p fun through a couple. games like this always enjoyable at the beginning where no one has any idea what they're doing and the meta changes ever six minutes.

That's when these games are the most fun. Once we're at a point where heroes have a trackable percentile difference in their loss rate and you have angry people trolling/yelling about your picks, the fun dries up quick.

yeah, if you click on your character on the postgame screen there's a personal highlight (which is what I recorded there) but not showing it to the group kinda sucks

Rocket feels like the safest "there is too much going on and I don't know how to be impactful" pick possible.

I haven't played Winter Soldier yet, but he seems really apt to two tap with repeated headshots from midrange. His dive game keeps the pressure up too.

Half my matches just reminding me of Overwatch 1 where no one wants to play tank or support, meaning you're more likely not going to win. The times I do see a tank, it's just Venom like in beta where they ungabunga and overextend.

That being said only Strange, Magneto, and Groot play like a real tank. All the other tanks are durable dive heroes, not "protect the backline by being a wall."

Like the Overwatch meta, I think you need one hard burst healer and one general support healer. Rocket is a great support healer, but you want someone like Luna or Cloak & Dagger as a main heal when the tanks come under heavy focus fire.

Given the state of the game right now I'm wondering if you can use GOATS to break the game's early meta just like it broke Overwatch's. Adam Warlock and Mantis for heals (gives Mantis a revive). Thor and Cap for +HP (Thor) and +DMG (Cap) and Cap's ult (basically Brigette's). Insert another dive and healer.

I originally had Loki and Hela with the idea to revive spam, but they changed the revive reduction bonus to requiring Hela to get last hits to revive so it's not nearly as effective anymore. The meta DPS around these four would be Iron Fist to dive with Cap and Thor, which means you probably take Luna as the last healer. The meta tank to slot in would be Hulk, which could go Luna or Jeff if you wanted. You could just take Hawkeye plus any healer since most agree Hawkeye's way overtuned atm. You could put in Starlord since he benefits from an Adam revive. You could also put in Storm for the AOE buff and the bonus from Thor.

Rocket and Punisher fills in the 3rd healer and gives you a very reliable DPS that can hang in the backline and gets a very strong synergy. Cloak and Dagger and Moon Knight is another DPS+Healer combo you could slot in.

My son downloaded this game and I was watching him play and giving him tips, then I started playing and now my joy is plopping down a turret as Punisher, and when I draw attention, smoke bomb and zip lining our. Its fucking hilarious how pissed people get.

Watched a vid that dove into why hero bans > trying to get all the heros on par with each other and a role queue like Overwatch. Gotta say I agree, let some of them be fucking wild and all over the place, makes it way more fun lol. Been playing a little of this here and there and holy shit it's so much better then Overwatch, every hero has a good toolkit.
