One of the scariest duos right now is Loki w/ Cloak & Dagger. Being able to cycle that ult in every teamfight is absurdly strong, and the duo are excellent at disengaging from dive pressure and covering one another's big buttons. Green runes + light bubble = near-impossible to kill and Loki is exceptional at holding the frontline healing line while C&D aim up and top off the flying DPS.

Another disgusting combo is Loki w/ Luna. Same deal regarding the ult cycling, and the duo deals disgusting damage and spike healing when needed. With Luna's CC, the duo slaughter solo divers and Luna's strong ult also allows for Loki to instead ult offensively without worrying about leaving the team unsupported, allowing for hilarious bunker-bustering combos like double iron man (Rip enemy healer ults), double Hela (the ultimate point defense), double Star Lord (hope you have a healing ult) or staggered Moon Knight (a busted ult that needs nerrrrrrfs.)

I'm currently in plat running a C&D/Loki duo and its a ton of fun.

Just to elaborate/clarify, it's still absurd and the industry is shit, but it is one of the support studios. A lot of people on twitter seemed to think it was the main dev team. Still fucked obviously.

Happens with tons of games. You hire a bunch of extra hands to finish the job, and when the job's done, you don't need all the extra hands and only need enough to maintain it in perpetuity. That's the industry.

People acting like this is some pump-and-dump are just sucking at the teat of agenda reporting and rage-bait. Waiting for the first bit of bad news to shout their "I told ya so!"'s from the top rafters.

I mean this kind of thing exists in many fields but theres right and wrong ways to do it. Feel like none of the developers, or anybody attached to this at all, would be surprised or upset if the pre-written 6 month or 1 year contract simply expired and that was that and all the developers knew their term length. There'd be no story if everyone involved knew their temporary situation and it was laid out in advance.

To my understand the Developers laid off pretty much found out day-of they were no longer employed, without prior warning, which I think is justified anger at least from them.

As far as the entire industry goes, I still think the practice of developers with no warning getting shit-canned is a shitty practice regardless of how common it is.

I really do feel bad for these people, but this is very standard in the gaming industry after a game launches.

The development is done, most of the code, and assets are finished. So they only need enough staff for maintaining the product, and adding seasonal content. This isn't a job where they always need full teams.

If the company isn't making another game, they don't need most of those people. Like, if your company is building a house, and the house is done, but they aren't starting a new one... you're getting laid off.

Companies like that don't exist just to pay you for nothing. It's a part of a "by the job" industry. All of entertainment is like that. When a movie is finished, they don't keep all the crew employed "just because". If you want a secure, steady employment, game development isn't likely to guarantee that for you.

I get that, just think its still painfully shit to normalize "Yah you just get fired whenever and probably won't know until you read it on the internet day-of". I'll say that particular aspect of the firings, not the firings themselves, is the problem. As I dabbled on previously I don't it'd even be a news story if the developers knew ahead of time they were temp workers and only had an X-Month contract or something.

But whos to say the circumstances of their hiring, which is why I'm not going to go on a crusade about this lol.

To me it comes down to the compensation package they get on the back end, because I always expect major game companies to take the most "shotgun out back" approach to laying off staff after a game launch. Laying people off on short notice (they should already know they're probably going to get canned when a game launches; that's just the biz) but giving them 6 months severance or hiring assistance to other companies... that kind of support at the end matters more than me than whether people get laid off or not, because in that industry, its just the norm.

Its nothing like what these facists are doing in the government.

jesus fucking christ competitive is horrible (pretty much like any of these games) having to relay on whole other team to not be the most braindead fucking people over is great lol. Love having a punisher going 2 and 25 because he keeps running to the front line and dying and being like "WHY NO HEALS?"

It's definitely worse in this game because of EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking). The matchmaker is designed to keep people playing more and longer 1) to boost numbers, and 2) increase the chance you spend $$.

So instead of gearing around optimally balanced teams, the algorithm tries to min-max the skinner box. If a player only continues their play sessions while doing good or winning, the player gets put into the winner queue. If a player is identified as someone who has a high tolerance for losing, they get sorted into the loser queue. The matchmaker gives matches where the winner queue players have ELO advantages against loser queue teams. It will sneak in bricks to the winner queue team to get carried so that the player continues to climb, even if their skill stagnates.

In QM, there are bot games to solve this. But in competitive they just ruin the quality of competition. This is why there were supposed to be rank resets (without placement matches).

Also yeah the EOMM is garbage but not surprised by a F2P game like this, I have to just calm myself down and tell myself I hit gold, got the random skin and who cares about higher ranks, they don't mean shit anyways and i'm not streaming...BUT FUCKING HELL IRON MAN WHY ARE YOU 0 and 15??!!!!

It's maddening for me as someone who only plays games for the pursuit of improvement and competition. There are almost no good matches, just complete stomps. Like I enjoy being in the winners' queue more than the loser queue, but the winning isn't rewarding and the losing is maddening.

Yeah, the stomps where I win just feel like I inputted some cheats into a game and rolled it, it's not fun and super fucking boring.

Gred you ever think of trying fighting games? I feel like you and I approach this shit the same way and I've never found anything else that rewards me the way they do.

Nope. I mean maybe at GM or higher, where you're twitch streaming and shit and making your groups but Gold/Plat/Diamond are horrible ranks to climb through.

I don't know how people get good at team games competitive modes seem to be the antithesis of learning.
