Gauging interest in a new Eden single-box server

I reached out to Godmode today since our numbers are nearing 200 responses now with almost 150 yes/maybes. I've also approached a streamer from the FFXI private server community about hosting GM and asking questions. We were thinking a combination of prepared questions and then taking a few from viewers. If schedules align, we should have the stream in June.

I have shared this around quite a bit, so you should have seen an uptick of votes in the past week or so. Any update on when in June the stream will be (assuming 150 yes/maybes have been reached)?

You also mentioned that there will be some prepared questions, so I will list a few that I think are important in case you want to use any of them:

1) Will this be a ToAU, WoTG or progression server that will eventually end with WoTG?
2) Will there be increased spawn rates in starter zones for a limited time at launch to alleviate a potential large influx of players?
3) How many/what changes will be made from Eden? Will it essentially be an Eden copy with a fresh start and single-box only?
4) From the time of the stream, how long does Godmode anticipate it will take to launch the server?

Thanks, man, I appreciate that. I have noticed it climbing more, about to hit 200 total with 26% at no and the rest yes/maybe. GM is traveling next week, and I'm going out of state for family, so plan for next week to be no updates. But we've already talked a little about it and pushing for June. I have a couple people in mind to ask him questions for the stream but I'll get more info for that when I come back home and start putting it together.

For your questions:
1. Cant say but good question. I did ask GM if he would ever add WotG. He said he actually has thought about doing WotG before but if it was added to a new server, it would be a staff vote, not something left solely up to him. If the project proceeds, I can imagine that this would be something staff would discuss to let players know beforehand, though. No one wants to go into a server not knowing how far or how much content they plan to add.
2. That was a good idea when Horizon did it and I think it helped a lot with getting people out of the starter zones. If a new server did that, it would also be something for them to figure out before release. However I don't think a new server would have 10k people online or whatever it was that Horizon had on that first day.
3. I can't say what would change because unlike last time, it seems like GM would want everything to be a staff vote the next time around. He doesn't want decisions left to one person. I can say that when I've asked him about changes, there are some things he's thought about adjusting but yeah, goes back to staff voting.
4. I don't have an answer for that one. That might be a question for the actual livestream.

I've always hoped the private server community would collaborate together to polish a replicate of FFXI. While Eden is the most accurate, there is still an abundance of mechanics and content that remain to be implemented.

I wish the best for any team or individual and their project. The more research and content that is developed could possibly help the community as a whole.

You may copy open source information and the benefits that come with it. What won't come with it cannot be replicated.

While I only make small contributions and attempt to help Eden's team, I've always been outside of their core who develop it. Besides myself, there are many more who are also outside their core and contribute more than I do. From that view, the core of other communities pale in comparison to their teamwork.

With that said, going open source is meant to help the entire private server community. It's not going to help if others aren't willing to work together like Eden's team has.

Where I would draw the line is using their name in advertisement.

You're acting as if no one from Eden is involved in this in any way, when Godmode (allegedly) is the one who asked for this data to gauge interest in a project. Who knows if it will be named Eden 2 or something completely different...it's all speculation until Godmode speaks up.

In one sentence you say you wish the best for any team or individual making an XI project, then the next you assume that whoever is involved in this has no interest in working together with anyone. Super weird.

If you have any real criticism of this, it should be that Godmode has yet to actually speak up and confirm that this real at all, since lots of us are still waiting for that.

It is a shame that every server have to basically recode the same shit again and again and again, I wonder what's the motivation beside ego/power trip to remake a new server every time instead of just joining Eden dev in the first place; we'd prolly have working WoTG almost done as of now if everyone did team up but for some reason we have server either unable to code stuff so making them super custom (like salvage piece droping not in salvage) or server that are stuck on COP.

So I guess my question would be: How would the staff be selected ? Would it be based on current Eden ? Would it be open source for everyone to dev ? Would anyone be able to join the team as a dev ? or Would it be another power trip that is stuck on COP/ToAU forever ?

I want to share my last conversation with him to alleviate these concerns that GM isnt actuslly involved. I'm sorry I am with family right now as my dad is declining quickly after a stroke, so I cant help much more beyond sharing this for now. GM was also traveling to visit his fiance. I'll mention GM was the original owner of Eden and still works on things.
