funny/sad/unsurprising to people claiming woke and forced diversity about Yasuke
I like how they did the whole "don't release yearly games" for like 1 game lol. Haven't played Valhalla or Mirage. Either of those worth checking out on a discount?
I've always wanted them to make an AC game in a Japanese setting since the first game. Not saying it's happening because I went to Japan this year but I'm also not saying it didn't happen because I went to Japan this year.
Anyway I might be back for this one.
Valhalla complete edition is probably like 100+ hours gameplay. At release it was decent to really good. Not sure about now though with more modern action adventure games to compare it to like God of War 2 and Forbidden West.
I haven’t played Mirage but a lot of people seem to agree it’s okay but really, really short compared to other AC games. The protagonist in Mirage is one of the side characters (albeit a VERY important side character) from Valhalla and I’d recommend Valhalla first if you don’t want to be spoiled big time.
Oh I should also add Valhalla (base game) is free on PSN and Game Pass currently.
Valhalla was pretty good but is way way way too long. It's not as excessively huge as Odyssey was but is plagued with an unnecessarily long story with tons of filler and overly big world map.
Honestly, I forgot that Mirage was a short game and I am probably more likely to jump into that experience. Although annoyed that its not on steam. Maybe I'll get it when it's inevitably free on Epic store
But eh if Valhalla is free on PSN I may at least dip my toe and decide from there

Good thread on the protagonist
This whole discourse so fucking stupid. Japanese devs have included Yasuke in their games before as a samurai. Nagoriyuki from Guilty Gear: Strive is inspired and based off of him. He's been in manga and anime, shown as a samurai. His wiki page is on fire since yesterday from everyone suddenly becoming a history buff and whether retainers/kosho etc. were samurai or not.
The main constant is that Yasuke doesn't have many official documents talking about him or his fate after Nobunaga died but if the Japanese themselves are fine making him a samurai in their media, then that should be good enough for his ass to show up in the totally historically accurate Assassin's Creed universe.
I wonder if the game is going to have it so Nobunaga died because Yasuke was an assassin who was actually sent to kill him.

The real wtf is the cut content from the base game unless you pre-order and the extra mission that you can only get from the more expensive bundles that have largely useless fluff tacked on.
i'm just happy vidya bigots have made it so Ubisoft's intensely anti-consumer practices are being drowned out in a tide of anti-woke whining, maybe they really are playing 4D chess
Well their stock price is down like 17% today (and has been in a steady decline for years now) so whatever they're doing isn't working
(It has nothing to do with internet drama and everything to do with them massively missing expectations for the quarter)
I've not touched an AssCreed since Black Flag. Have there been other releases that had you play as a real person, rather than a fictional one that meets some historical figures along the way?
I see where people realize it's Ubisoft just throwing out the "diversity for sales" card. Given all the other historical figures they could have chosen from but Yasuke was a real dude too so it's not like they just made up a random black guy and were like "This guy!" for diversity sake either. It's Ubisoft, so I want to see actual gameplay and I want it to not have 100000hrs of bloat in it. Also Assassins Creedy odyssey had us fucking fighting Medusa and shit...so these games aren't super "historical accurate"
But much like Heimdall being played by Idris Elba, this is completely and utterly wrong and i'm so fucking mad i'm going to post on 4chan, 8chan, 12chan and even fucking 45.4chan!!!

we fought fuckin Medusa in Odyssey
And it was really good too
Like I can’t stress how fucking cool it was in Odyssey that I’m just doing some random fucking sidequest that leads me in to a lil cave and then HOLY SHIT I AM FIGHTING THE MINOTAUR
