421 for IV Beyond the Sword
280 for V
58 for VI
and who the fuck knows how many hundreds of hours in Civ 2. Probably 100 alone in the Star Wars mod
And I guess another 100+ or so for Alpha Centauri

This released Tuesday, anyone playing? It's pretty good.
I want to play, but like every civ before it I play one match for 5 hours and never finish a game lol

i grabbed it, released in roughish state + could've used another month or two to patch the terrible UI, but the new systems feel great so far, more into the core gameplay than i ever was into Civ VI throughout its run. combat and city building are better and age transitions rule more than i thought they would. think she'll be a winner with a little more spit and polish and expanding out the number of civs / leaders.
so far it hasn't grabbed me like 5 or 6 did out the gate
I've done a full game as Himiko and while i did have fun there were definitely a fair few issues i had with it #1 being the UI theres honestly more than i thought they'd be after seeing some YT stuff pre-release and even then the UI was being criticized but my main ones are:
1. Combat readability is horrendous a fair amount of the time, unit icons are so small that half the time they just bleed into the background when fighting in a city, it wasn't as bad in the first era but by the last one it just wasn't fun.
2. Yield/District readability, more a 2nd era+ problem but trying to discern what yields belonged to which tile can be a pain in the ass at times since there was some overlapping or even trying to figure out what district is where cause while the art is gorgeous i felt districts don't really stand out so you can tell at a glance whats what (Granted could just be a skill issue but *shrug*).
For a visual of what i'm meaning:
Spoiler: show
Honestly feel like it needed like 3-6 months more in the oven but im not wanting to be overly negative, i still had fun and will definitely be putting in more hours cause i can see the vision for the game, they just needed a little more time to cook.
Bought it, haven't played yet. Eager to see how it is
lmao yes, a lot of the UI is ugly but fine but it cannot be stressed enough that when it is bad re communicating information it is SOOOOOOOO BADDDDDDDDDD. what the fuck were they thinking lmaooo
but yeah the vision is there, core systems are there, and is fun as is. fix the god damn UI and it'll be a damn fine game.
Yeah, I'm glad they involved a few of the more renowned Civ streamers in beta, and have already collected a lot of positive suggestions about simple, common-sense UI fixes and the like. PotatoMcWhisky in particular committed a hefty portion of his early Civ 7 vids to discussing stuff like Brozy just mentioned, and he's got a direct line to the devs. Some stuff will get patched, some stuff the mod community will step up and fix. Y'all know how it goes. It'll be a different, better game a year from now, but I'm having fun with the gameplay changes and the gorgeous graphics already.
Eh, this is good old CIV. Looks great, runs on high graphics on M1 MBP, will get better with expansions.
Only thing that baffles me is that how could they be so sub par with the UI, considering that they should've been masters of it by now lol
Everyone keeps saying the UI is trash, but from an outside observer who played the fuck out of V and skipped VI (because it looked like mobile trash), what's wrong with the UI in VII?
Idk man, it feels rushed. Ex. when I click on the list of the city states to plan which one to invest my diplomatic points on, I was shocked to see that I had to click each and every of them and find them on the map just to see what type of benefits (military, cultural, etc) they provide.
Hovering to see detailed info is what, 90s feature? Overall the UI ooks neat but missing critical components, as if its still in alpha stage.
A seasoned gamer would instinctively know where to find information in videogames. In CIV 7, that info is usually not there.
Yeah, that's an issue. I'll wait on it, then. By the first DLC, shit like this should be sorted out.
ye they've already started cleaning it up decently with patches, prolly another month before it's fine, several before it's good.
