Slept on it and I think the Maelle ending is the better one. Higher net happiness. Gustave is alive, sciel has her husband back, lune is happy. Lumiere is alive. Maelle and verso are living fake and perhaps tortured lives, but from that all the joy is born. And maelle will die eventually, when she does verso can stop his spirit from painting and he gets the end he wants, too.

The Verso ending gives him his relief, but dooms the world and sends maelle back to reality with a broken body and family. Maybe the Desandre family gets their shit together eventually and overcomes their grief but that future time isn't shown to us or guaranteed

I was surprised Gustave didn't get a resurrection for act 3. I really expected to have him come back and be our last reserve party member.

Also I found a very abusable farming spot. 5x color of lumina per fight from the Clair Obscur boss at the top of the monolith. Can rest at the nearby flag to respawn it ad nauseum. I only did it 3 times but I saw some screenshots of people with 600+ lumina points

As I've said, I think that Maelle's ending is better as well it is just important to recognize Maelle is doing it for the wrong reasons. She could have/should have left painted Verso dead but she revived him because it was part of her illusion.

The most exploitable farming I think is the Chromatic Danseuse in Old Lumiere. It respawns two adds every time it is alone, and the adds drop Color of Lumina, so you just keep killing the adds until you get bored. It's not respawnable, so you just gotta grind it once for an hour or so to get 1000+ drops.

You can only find it after you clear the city the first time around

Yeah I went back and cleared that mob in old lumiere right after the story events there. Could see it in the distance when you go there the first time. I didn't know you could exploit the adds that way.

Finally started playing and I too have stopped at the Gestral Village (but only after playing for one day)

The timing on some of the dodge/parry stuff can be annoying and some of the bosses do the Elden Ring thing where they wind up but don’t swing juuuuuust yet and that shit gets annoying fast, but you get used to it after seeing it a few times

Story wise I’m along for the ride knowing it’s here to cause emotional damage

Most bizarre thing I’ve noticed so far is why they made all the trash cans in Lumiere inspectable items if you click it they just say “It’s an ordinary trash can.” NO MY GAMER BRAIN DOESN’T BELIEVE YOU. Also fighting Mimes to a sick accordion sound track? Count me in.

So after doing the Gestral Village and meeting up with Esquie this is a fucking roller coaster feels like it did a complete tonal shift into witty cute fantasy rather than existential dread and brutal murders the first couple hours provided. I feel like I am being set up for EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.
