Ok maybe not. Once I took a deep breath and did it slow, I was able to do it.
there's 3 tiers of difficulty including a story mode and an accessibility option for auto-QTEs (not dodge jump parry tho). i think in general it would be appealing to casual lady gamers because of the story and the aesthetics (girls love Belle Époque France).
speaking of difficulty i'm rolling hard and it feels perfect. most bosses kill me a few times, needa dive into the systems and party synergy (you can get disgusting damage riders going especially after a break), and taking out a boss/subboss perfecting a handful of parries gives a Soulsian fuck you fuck yeah thrill. hope there are some obscene optional bosses deeper into the game that'll really put the pedal down.
Fuck
I definitely have to stop reading this thread and maybe also have to buy a better PC to play this.
Yeah I'm playing on expert and the bosses do indeed feel very soulsian where you need a pull or two to see their moves and get the timing then it just starts to click and feels great. Also I'm not even at Act 2 yet but I assume Gustave's skill tree must have some crazy shit behind those locks cause in comparison to the 3 other party members I have currently he is severely lacking in options.
Either crazy or just plot relevant lol
yall think there is a cheese vendor at the yearly death thing? "fromage while you gommage"
This game..... is exceedingly French.
cosmetics spoils business
Spoiler: show
Oh dear, this game aggressively kicks into overdrive at the end of Act 1
Meanwhile I'm still waiting to get more party members. Still at gestral village atm
I played like an hour the release night but I’m waiting till my weekend before I can dig in
To reiterate what AG said, go in as blind as possible.
I'm very early into act II but the amount of absolute dick punches the story has already thrown in are just woo buddy.
Other than the prologue I still haven't really noticed anything obviously missable either since the game pretty easily lets you explore previous locations.
Just drunk speculation on my part, I haven't even finished Act 1 yet. I was rewatching "the" prologue cutscene
Spoiler: show
jump countering every attack in a 3/4 hit chain is a real fuck yeah gaming moment
I beat some huge optional monster that seemed way above my level because he was so easy to jump counter lol
I've had weapons randomly get upgraded after some fights. Is there any rhyme or reason to that?
If a weapon drops again it upgrades to whatever level the new one is
But afaik outside of specific weapons they're just random drops
Ohhh its from weapon drops, got it. Thanks
