I gotta say a new* game hasn't made me feel this type of way in a good while






*Xenoblade X did but it's not new. And it was more for the awe of the world and exploration, not really the story. Expedition 33 is the total package.

I rewarded myself with this game after a 10-day long busy roster with back to back red eyes.

3 days off, Expedition 33, delicious coffee, here I come! This game also makes me wanna request a Paris layover for next month.

Well I guess that explains why Gustave seemed so lacking in options and none of his weapons had passives, damn did not see that coming. They really just hit us with a Protag swap holy shit.

As I keep working my way through Act III, man the power creep is spectacular.

While going through the final dungeon of act II I went back out to try Frozen Hearts, and after doing one trash fight that took like 8-9 minutes just gave up. Went back there over my lunch break and Maelle can clear the encounters by herself before anyone else even gets a turn.

Dark Shores since they drop what I currently assume to be the highest level weapon upgrade mats for level 32, unless 33 is cap which would make sense and between 500k-800k exp per fight

I got lucky in that I was trying to phase him out of the party just to level the others so I was just starting to learn to not rely on his limit break. And then the game was like good, cuz now you don't have it anymore

I like Monaco but can't really figure out what I want him to do in the group. I may be able to build him better once I get some weapons and can see what passives they have. Most of his abilities are break abilities though so maybe have him be a good breaker idfk lol

Maelle only really gets going in Act III, a bunch of her best abilities are locked behind story progression.

For the last party member how you build him depends entirely on what weapon you want him to use. More so than the other characters where you find a weapon to suit the play style, he works the other way around.

Parries increase the Bestial Wheel by 1. Taking damage resets the Bestial Wheel.
Upgraded Skills deal 30% more damage.
+1 AP on Mask change

1 skill for every mask type, then last 2 are the high AP options

Chevalière Piercing - Agile, Physical, damage through shields
Clair Enfeeble - Balanced - AOE, Light, applies Powerless debuff
Rocher Hammering - Heavy, Physical, single target break
Sakapatate Explosion - Caster, Lightning, just damage
Chapelier Slash - Agile, Physical, AOE Mark
Sakapatate Fire - Ultimate, Fire, obscenely high AOE damage

Can cover a bunch of different scenarios and can work around elemental resistances
