The only consistently shitty one around me is Pizza Hut. They are all super inconsistent but can get a good pizza at all the others at least some of the time. Haven't had a good pizza from the Hut in probably close to a decade. Which sucks because back in the 90s and 00s they were by far my favorite.

If you have a Marco's in your market it absolutely destroys all of the other chains though. Or Jet's, but Marco's is way cheaper.

The new Papa Johns pan is trash btw. I was excited when I saw it and it looks the part. Unfortunately it tastes like burned butter and cardboard.

Anytime Dominos does their 50% i'm all over it. I really love their pizza when they made those changes like 10 years ago.

The last time I had Domino's it was absolute garbage. Pizza Hut personal pan pizzas still rule but it's harder and harder to find them. There was a Target around me that used to have them in their in-store Pizza Hut but last time I was there no one had been behind the counter for months.

As with my Burger tier list, a lot of this come down to the Cost to Value ratio. I have been more or less having Dominos over Pizza Hut because it's cheaper.

And I would prefer the fast casual build your own personal pizza like Pieology or Blaze but a lot of those locations are closing recently.

My wife loves the Hut, and I enjoy their wings too, but the two locations near us are a nightmare just to place an order. She has called twice where the person on the other end sounded outsourced, and when she asked a simple question, they just hung up on her. Other times, no one answers at all.

I don’t know how it is at other locations, but if customers can’t even reach you when they’re trying to give you money, that’s a serious problem. You are not the only pizza option around here. There are at least a dozen places within five miles of my house, and one of them is Jet’s, which is just so damn good.

We have two Chicago deep dish style places around here. One's kinda meh (their thin crust is actually better).

The other, at least years ago before they closed down, was pretty much spot on and had a hard time telling the difference between it and the deep dish from the two well known places I had in Chicago.

I'm with you on price ratio. For what I pay when I go out to get takeout from all but a few places is mostly disappointing.

Hut is good as a reheat pizza but same day pizza i can't stand it for fast food pizza. Dominos is king nowadays, glad they redid their sauce or they'd have gone under long long ago.

The amount of just local, higher/mid tier pizza joints in EVERY fucking town though I don't get why ppl get pizza hut/dominos nowadays because they aren't really that much cheaper or they're same price.

Pizza Hut I think has closed most of their sit down locations and shifted to delivery/carryout only and I think that was the real difference between them and Dominos, Little Caesaers, etc. Except for maybe Papa Johns, Pizza Hut is the most expensive. Those $5 Hot-N-Ready from Little Caesars are keeping the stores open.

They are amazing and worth it a lot of the time but the best local spot near me charges about $18 for a medium-large cheese with no toppings. Start adding stuff in or getting specialty and you're well north of $30. I can get a Marco's carry out 3 topping large for $7.99. Same price as Little Caesar's HnRs.

My Target used to have a Pizza Hut but it was remodeled into a Starbucks. But the pizza ovens were owned by the store and not leased, so they said fuck it, kept the pizza ovens and now sell little personal pan pizzas from a little side bar at the Starbucks
