There's a McDonald's on the walk back to my place from the metro and while I wouldn't eat there, I gotta say sometimes I'm walking by it and the smell of fat, beef, grease, and fries hits and it's like ... surely it couldn't hurt just to stop in.

McDonald's breakfast is in my rotation of places I hit up on the way to work (Starbucks/Chil Fil A/Peet's/McD's/a couple local bagel places), but I haven't had anything outside breakfast in there for years now.

You guys are insane. McDonald's fries are top tier, and most of their sandwiches are fine to good.

They frequently skip on the salt, but if they salt their beef right it kicks it right up to great territory.

If you go to Checkers when they're close to closing time and ask for fries they'll typically just fill up the whole bag for you to get rid of what they haven't sold.

They’re going to continue getting pounded as WTI and Brent go up and forward looking revenue projections start getting revised for the year, the longer this war goes on. The prevailing wisdom is 0.2% CPI increase per $10 of crude increase.

The pressure from higher fuel and energy costs creates a compounding effect where every company along the value chain pays more for everything. Margins compress on higher costs to do business, which get passed on the consumers in higher prices for utilities, groceries, and products, which result in less purchasing power and lower discretionary spending. Borrowing becomes more expensive for everyone due to those riskier expectations, the Fed will likely not adjust rates down, and stagflation comes. Labor market has been soft for months now with companies holding their breaths for what AI can do and hiring being very low, which could add to the overall economic stress.
