I have been talking to my friends over at Rodgers. Jeff Marek has been fired for speaking up about the Oilers hire. Rogers will try and spin this, but this is why this has happened. People at SN are pissed atm.

At the draft, it was known then, that NHL would bring back Bowman, Quenneville and MacIsaac. From what I had herd, Marek was not happy about that news. So he started harrasing NHL brass, and asking them really tough questions on the draft floor. Rodgers suspended him, and as of this morning, Rodgers has terminated his contrract.

I always liked Marek, and find solace in the fact that if he did something shady or bad he will likely land on his feet in the Edmonton Oilers organization.....

Ah ok, so was in a roundabout way about who the Oilers eventually hired. I thought maybe he went off on a rant about it within the past 24 hours type thing. I honestly half expected Coach Q to get the call from Columbus, but after the Babcock thing last season, is why I figure they held off.

He probably didn't like how the league tried to bury the unbanning of Quenville/Bowman in the middle of all the draft/free agency news. That said, I believe his contract was up for renewal anyway so it's not like they nuked him in the middle of a long deal.

I'm sure TSN will hire him immediately.
