I picked it up yesterday, played 4 hours with my brother. Got to say it is feeling more enjoyable than 3 ever did, I really appreciate the open world more than i thought I would. The quests and humor are landing better for me, the guns are fun, though theres a serious "Samey" problem in like, the first 10 levels, the game seems to drip feed new weapon types very slowly as you level up, which makes sense to keep the game new, but like, the first 5 levels your inventory will be filled with the same Pistol and SMG you've gotten 100 other times but with slightly different parts.

I'm just picking a character (The Tediore Suit guy) and playing, no guides for optimal builds, no cheese shit, just going to experience it vanilla the first time through, and we're playing on hard mode. So far, its been a blast.

Also, I did turn my graphic settings on Medium since the vast majority of my computer is probably 10 years old at this point, save the graphics card which was a recent hand-me-down from my brother and is relatively modern (Last 3 years) and for the most part the game is running smoothly for me. There are slow downs/stutters when my brother rejoins the game (i've been "Disconnected from the Servers"/Immediately reconnected a couple times while playing), but I've never crashed or anything.

He bought it on PS5 and is doing fine too. We played for 4 hours and aside from him being booted from my game because I "disconnected", its been smooth sailing.

If I have the game on anything higher than Medium at my hardware, it runs like ass though, which is why I immediately turned it to medium when the gameplay started cause it was NOTICEABLY ass on "High Settings" which is what it defaulted too.

Lighting quality is a massive performance hog

Even with a 275HX/5090 laptop I have it turned down to medium.

Worked up a Vex build rocking around 50% lifesteal that applies Lifesteal to overshields when full (through class mod), and gives a 180% damage boost plus the effects from the Super Soldier shield (25% fire rate/25%movement speed/ammo regeneration) while I've got the overshield active. Which is obviously easy to maintain with the massive Regen just from shooting enemies.

Rocking it with Bonnie and Clyde AR/Shotgun, which especially the shotgun part benefits massively from the ammo regeneration to maintain the 100% damage boost the gun gets from it's legendary perm.

And all that with her perk that hits enemies with a random DOT for 150% of the value that her Bloodletter passive applies.

(Bloodletter is so getting nerfed, everyone focuses on the crit knife but really it's Bloodletter that's breaking the game)

Oh i already saw that and proceeded to fully embrace the cheese during my lunch break melting one of the vault guardians in the average span of about 2 seconds.

Didn't want to rely on it but if it's sticking around for awhile might as well enjoy it.

I ran through the Desert area recently, Ripper Queen territory and I'm just going to say it...

Its Destiny 2. The aesthetic of those areas are just Fallen lol.

Like I was convinced I'd be running into Taniks or a Servitor at some point. If you haven't seen what I'm talking about you'll for sure know when you're in the final lair of the Ripper Queen. Was about to get Kell of Kell'd in there.

The Crit Knife Build has been killed, RIP to those who used it.

Goes from 100% Crit chance with the debuff to 30% Crit chance.

Bonnie and Clyde got a more than 50% damage buff tho, which was already one of my favorite weapons as long your build had some kind of ammo regeneration

They buffed the grenade, and by buffed, I mean they fixed the Grenade Bullets doing like, level 1 damage. So now they properly scale, and at the very least it makes the grenade not entirely useless.

Elpis/The Moon.

I'm loving all the little throwbacks to Pre-sequel here, including some of the areas which I think are just Pre-Sequel areas, like the Dahl base and the Dahl Ship? Theres also a Statue of Jack floating around there. The air vents and Jump pads straight from PreSequel are a nice touch to the environment too. I kinda feel like with the Air vents in some encounter areas they probably were going to have to have us manage our Oxygen here but decided against it, that or they were just faithfully recreating the area. But us gathering breathing masks from bodies (for our two NPCs) made me feel like there was probably talk at some stage of development for that mechanic to pop up for us there.

Overall, I think I said it before, this game has been a huge jump up for me from 3. Like all Borderlands games I doubt I'll play past the campaign and maybe whatever endgame bosses there are, but the campaign itself has been thoroughly enjoyable and I think I'm only about 70% of the way done.

I enjoyed the hell out of the game but the desire to play pretty much dropped off instantly once I "gear completed" everyone (Amon aside, none of his builds looked fun to me).

Which is what I expected given the previous games, didn't even consider the deluxe editions because I knew I'd be bored of the game by the time DLC came out
